I saw the score at half time and figured it was a wrap. Shocked to see Philly lost.

It's over for Simmons in Philly, he's such a liability on offense and I don't know what the answer is for him because he doesn't seem interested in improving.

About as bad a playoff loss as you will ever see. Context aside, similar to Celtics over LA in 08 and against the Nets in 02 or whenever it was.

Embiid fades down the stretch.
Simmons literally unplayable in the closing minutes of a playoff game.
Harris unfit to be a #2 option on a title contender.

Evergreen. Man, the Hawks are fun to watch.

David Aldridge had a great quote during the ‘08 Finals that if Rajon Rondo were Lamar Odom’s height he would be Kevin Garnett* while if Lamar were Rondo’s height he would be a shoe salesman. Feels applicable to Simmons as well.

*I forget if KG was the name he cited but it was something like that.

This is probably a knee-jerk overreaction, but I feel much better about the Celtics’ future in the East in the last two nights. The top three teams: Philadelphia (Simmons in half court offense), Milwaukee (Giannis free throws), and Brooklyn (injuries) all see to be fundamentally broken when it comes to playoff basketball.

It was ridiculous that people were ignoring the effect on last year's conference finals teams and it will be just as ridiculous when they continue to ignore it now. The league asked too much of these guys. We'll see more of them go down.
How many of these injuries are due to overuse? Any?

Using a condensed schedule which ended last month for playoff injuries that occur with zero B2B games is pretty comical. Paul’s shoulder? Kyrie’s ankle? Kawhi being thrown off balance by Ingles tearing his knee? Embiid getting knocked off balance in mid-air on a dunk causing him to land awkwardly? Exactly which of these injures were caused by a condensed f’in schedule?

Insane shootout going on in Jazz vs Clippers. Wonder how long both sides can keep up.

If Hawks close this out, I think the Process will officially be broken. Should have traded Simmons for Harden. Completely agree with the thought that Simmons would be best as small ball center. He needs to play the Boris Diaw role from those great Suns teams of the mid-2000s.

I think you have to deal him and try another combination before Embiid's health craps out.

Harris or Simmons to Portland for McCollum?

As a Yankee fan, I can now say 2004 is not the greatest choke ever.
Such a nice try, but NOPE! Not even close. This wasn't even game 7. Leaving a million other important facts aside.

The 2004 Yankees remain the biggest chokers of all time.

REPEAT: The 2004 Yankees remain the biggest chokers of all time.

Agree with this. He’s got four years left on his contract at $31.6M, $33.9M, $36.3M and $38.6M. I wonder which teams would reasonably be interested in trading for him. Golden State would be terrifying with Simmons as the point center.

Even Diaw shot the 3 tho. Not well, but he shot it. He was also a considerably better FT shooter.

I’m older. I reserve biggest choker for the 1978 Red Sox.

Warriors are an interesting option although they would need to move Draymond and their best tradeable asset is another C along with the pick they'll be getting from Minny. Probably would need to be a 3 team deal. I was wondering about a deal centered around Simmons and Ingram. Philly would need a PG so maybe Simmons+ for Ingram/Lewis. Or go for broke and do that Westbrook/Beal/+ for Harris/Simmons deal.

There is going to be a ton of pressure on Morey to do something if this choke is finalized.

Kemba would be a nice fit with Embiid, just saying.

For his career, Diaw's average shot was 10.7 feet from the rim. HIs career low was 8.4. Ben's career is at 4.4. And he's trending in the wrong direction (5.6, 4.1, 3.6, 4.3.)

That's ridiculous.

I do believe on a broad scale free throw shooters tend to perform the same in the playoffs as in the regular season but it would be interesting to see if poor FT shooters do even worse due to the pressure and fear of failure being heightened for them especially.

Ben Simmons career FT% goes down a bit in the playoffs versus his career (54% versus 60%).

Yeah, not a perfect comparison but a decent proxy for the type of team Simmons needs to thrive. Needs to be fast paced with shooters all over the court.

I feel like Red Foxx after he had the big one. It’s draining to lose a game like that, and I’m just a fan. At least Morey knows now this Simmons thing is not going to work. That’s the real lesson of this series. And yeah, 2004 is still the worst choke. Just wanted to piss you guys off.

Simmons' contract makes it pretty awkward since he is paid like an alpha 1A cornerstone piece but is ultimately settling in as a guy who can be the 3rd best player on a great team as long as the 1st two are perimeter players, he can play center, and everyone else can shoot.

I'm just glad everyone is finally coming around to my extremely correct, years-long Trade Simmons takes.

Any opportunity we have to talk about 2004 with a Yankees fan does the opposite of piss us off!

Of course every GM in the league knows this now, and Simmons is no longer on his rookie deal. Who would trade for Simmons and what kind of return would they get?

I like the idea of trading him for CJ but man... what an awful return for Simmons.

What team would Ben Simmons fit the best on anyway? It's the Celtics, isn't it? A healthy Clippers team.

There aren't many teams he would fit on as is. Most teams would have to build around him.

Can you imagine how many words would be collectively posted here over a full season talking about his inability to shoot? I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it.

Those words would only be spoken if the team were losing. It also requires moving TL or having him strictly back up Ben Simmons. Simmons and Smart on the court together might be a problem though. Simmons/Tatum/Brown would work imo.

I was thinking about San Antonio. They could offer Murray/Vassell/picks and they have cap space to work with, which would give them some flexibility to make additional moves to build the right team around Simmons.
