they hack all game & force the refs to foul them out or let it goThe Heat playing dirty? I'm shocked?? Simply shocked???
Grant Theft Alvarado got into it at the end with a Big Fella
#Jaylen was right!they hack all game & force the refs to foul them out or let it go
There aren’t many things tougher than evaluating teenagers and how they respond to the NBA lifestyle. When Darko was drafted ahead of Melo and Wade nobody had any idea he would close more bars around the league than Rick Robey in his playing days. You just can never tell.I really thought he was going to be a good player! And that's why I know nothing about the sport.
Unsurprisingly, Granite and Miles Bridges were being dicks. (There were a few seconds between the shot clock and game clock, let the kid shoot). More surprisingly, Draymond was not involved (but only cos he was on the bench).Fight at the end of the Hornets - Warriors game. Hornets were upset with Quinones shooting with 10 seconds left leading by 13.
EDIT: Quinones and Grant Williams ejected.
If it's the one I'm thinking of.. Reed did actually lean to his left to create more contact... there were many other questionable calls for Giannis though in the game. The refs put him on the line enough in the fourth to basically seal the game.I mean, Giannis just ran through Reed standing there for way more than a beat. That's an absurd need to challenge.
LOL why even bother with the reviews if that's not going to be overturned?
Over a playoff series, you need 2-3 good defensive players with strong bodies to get in his way. Tire & frustrate himThere's just no way to defend Giannis.. he runs full speed to the hoop and if you don't stand perfectly still you won't get the charge... if you touch him at all it's a foul... if he misses the shot and there's any kind of body contact it's a foul, etc. No idea how players are expected to just stand there and let him run out of control into them without defending themselves at all.
Even Duncan Robinson was contributing to the hack-a-thon earlier in the game, kicking at a player’s legs to stop a fast break while he was down on the floor. The Heat playing dirty? I'm shocked?? Simply shocked???
Yeah.. I more meant that you’re just not allowed to defend him.. the parade of FTs for that guy is just beyond obnoxious given how often he throws his body into defenders at full speed. And any contact at all ..or sometimes no contact is a foul call. And then he takes 15-20 seconds for every FT.Over a playoff series, you need 2-3 good defensive players with strong bodies to get in his way. Tire & frustrate him
Say hello to Jrue/Horford/Tillman.
The Tillman pick-up was an excellent move for Giannis, Embiid, Joker, Bron, or any Alpha 4/5 scorer.
butler has a chance to get a 1 game suspension on that I’d say—he’s who escalated it from generic hard foul posing to altercation.Even Duncan Robinson was contributing to the hack-a-thon earlier in the game, kicking at a player’s legs to stop a fast break while he was down on the floor.
That’s the sort of petty, dangerous garbage that leads to fights at the end of games.
Heat Culture!

Probably not the best example when Giannis beats his man to the spot forcing the defender out of position. This is 100% a foul on the defender every time. He’s hard to defend bc he beats his man to the spot regularly.
Good point, the combo of too many whistles with the excessively long Giannis FT theatrical performance is bad TV.Yeah.. What really pisses me off is that he has a whole routine before he gets the ball.. the refs wait until he’s fully settled before giving him the ball.. further making even more of a joke of how long he takes.. as if the clock only starts when he gets the ball.. he takes five or six seconds just setting his feet and doing fake attempts before he even gets started with the rest of it. Does any other player do this?Good point, the combo of too many whistles with the excessively long Giannis FT theatrical performance is bad TV.
My early NBA rule change suggestion:
Make it 8 seconds on FT attempts. Use a shot clock with a distinct free-throw buzzer to add excitement to the FT.
The rule needs to be changed then. KAT is running along side him stride for stride and Giannis ducks his shoulder and creates the contact. If you tried and call that a foul in a pickup game you would be mocked off the courtProbably not the best example when Giannis beats his man to the spot forcing the defender out of position. Thinking Basketball did a nice history on this. What you described would have once been called an offensive foul. Contact initiated by the offensive player, in my opinion, should still be called an offensive foul. The rule needs to be changed then. KAT is running along side him stride for stride and Giannis ducks his shoulder and creates the contact. If you tried and call that a foul in a pickup game you would be mocked off the court
That play has been a defensive foul since at least 45 years ago…..I won’t say since Naismith as I got started slightly after that invention. Slightly. The rule needs to be changed then. Not to be a broken record, but Jrue's ability toJrue only 4x as likely to hit a corner 3 as Ausar, who has airballed 8 of those 50, IIRC.

For what it's worth, the video shared above from Thinking Basketball, which has a lot of clips, suggests that this started to shift in the 1980s, and maybe didn't become totally standard until the 2010s. I do think that play by Giannis should be an offensive foul, though it's rarely if ever called that way, and maybe hasn't been for decades. That play has been a defensive foul since at least 45 years ago…..I won’t say since Naismith as I got started slightly after that invention. The defender must be in a legal guarding position. This particular play wasn’t a push off with his arm which would have been an offensive foul. The ballhandler is allowed to get to that position.
Didn't Derrick White more or less lead that category last year? fake edit: nope, he only had 13 last year, tied with Draymond and DeRozan. But two years ago, he was only 1 off the league lead, with 25 (and in the playoffs, the leaderboard went (1) Smart, 8; (2) Brunson, 6; (3) White, 5). Maybe he's making more "business decisions" this year in similar spots.Charges Taken Leaders
Yeah I used my timeframe from my own experience in how I used to use angles and positioning to draw fouls…..obv at a much lower level. For what it's worth, the video shared above from Thinking Basketball, which has a lot of clips, suggests that this started to shift in the 1980s, and maybe didn't become totally standard until the 2010s. agreed—the way they call Giannis is absolutely a problem but this one doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the straight on shoulder drops. By rule, this video does show a foul on the defense.Probably not the best example when Giannis beats his man to the spot forcing the defender out of position. I think people often aren't aware of how referees treat it when defenders turn their body, rather than sliding their feet. A key part of basketball defense is NOT turning your body in the way Towns does there, which is what we mean by "angles". If you're beat like that, as a defender, you're pretty screwed.Yeah I used my timeframe from my own experience in how I used to use angles and positioning to draw fouls…..obv at a much lower level.
If that exact play happens at half court that is either a no call or an offensive on Giannis. KAT is just running next to him. This is as impressive a game-winner as you'll see. I'm still super bullish on Banchero as a superstar, and if we're making a list of who could be the best american born player in 4-5 years, he's right there just below Tatum and Edwards.
I fully think Giannis gets a different set of rules but i don’t get it on this play. That’s obviously a defensive foul, and would be at half court tooIf that exact play happens at half court that is either a no call or an offensive on Giannis. KAT is just running next to him. This exact play would never occur at halfcourt as Giannis wouldn’t be in scoring/shooting position looking to generate contact to get to the line or for an And1. If something similar did occur the refs would likely let it go if it didn’t create an advantage for the player to continue game flow.If that exact play happens at half court that is either a no call or an offensive on Giannis. Wait, wasn’t he the coach? Wasn’t it his job to tell his players to get the ball to Embiid? Didn’t he know how healthy his players were? The mind boggles.
How could he possibly responsible for knowing or doing anything as only the head coach?Wait, wasn’t he the coach? Wasn’t it his job to tell his players to get the ball to Embiid? Didn’t he know how healthy his players were? The mind boggles.
Giannis just had two free throws.. on the first he took at least 12 seconds before he got the ball.. he then took an additional 10 seconds before he took the shot. On the second he took another 10 before he got the ball and an additional 10 to shoot.. all after a foul call that was questionable at best.Good point, the combo of too many whistles with the excessively long Giannis FT theatrical performance is bad TV.
