For a long stretch, this was such a painful loss for us. But now I get to look back gleefully that the Rex-era Jets claim to fame was back to back AFCCGs... and then the Pats went to 8 in a row.

Not everyone has Tom Brady.

I know a lot of Jets fans. Almost all of them have the same hope for this year with Rodgers: Make playoffs. Win at least 1 Playoff game.

The Jets have a good roster, not a great one. And most fans I've talked to seem (shockingly) seem to have realistic goals for this year. The caveat is I do think it might be a SB or bust for the season after, but we'll see.

The Jets, with Rodgers, have a great team. Especially Breece comes back at 100% by like week 3 o4 4. They have a ton of talent on offense and a great defense.

They also have a brutal schedule over the first half of the season. (Cowboys, Chiefs, Eagles, LAC, NY Giants, on top of the division games, which is a really tough draw, both SB teams)

I may finally watch Hard Knocks now.

Do we think Aaron Rodgers is going to be a head case in New York? Or will he keep his shit together? Tune in next week to learn via Liev Schreiber’s dulcet tones.

He will mind his peas and Q's at first but eventually the real Rodgers will come out.

This is going to be petty, vindictive Rodgers, tho.

And petty, vindictive Rodgers is an MVP. He was hurt last year and he was the opposite of locked in. Now he's pissed off and ready to prove things. Take the over on the Jets win total. Rodgers compared to Zach Wilson is like comparing Lebron to Blake Wesley.

Maybe, but I think his skills have diminished to the point where that can only take him so far. He thinks he's going to be Tom Brady 2.0 but there was only one Brady.

I think at this point the jets rank well below the chiefs, giants, Steelers, browns, and cowboys (edit:and dolphins. And broncos. And colts) (edit2: and ravens) in terms of how annoyed I'd be if they were to win a Superbowl. I enjoyed rooting against Rodgers during COVID but with that all in the rear view mirror, it could be fun to watch F.U. Rodgers beat the true contenders. And, you know, respect to those jets fans that have stuck it out this long. That's where I'm at, at least until the season starts or the Pats show us something.

Given his age and the vagaries of football, it's not like Rodgers is part of some long-term plan. It's sort of the opposite of Sanchez. Then, they figured, "this is the start of something good." It's really close to now-or-never for Rodgers.

I think as a Pats fan what I’d love to see is Rodgers wipe out all the teams I hate and clear the runway for the Bengals and, I dunno, Lions.

A good playoff run would be a success. The "Super Bowl or bust" stuff is nonsense. There are plenty of strong teams at the top and the Jets are maybe in that tier, but they certainly aren't at the top of it.

The only team I can ever think of as "Super Bowl or bust" was the 2007 Patriots about 3/4 of the way through the season. Maybe if the Jets make it that far undefeated expectations will be similar. But it isn't going to happen.
Yup, if they lose a tight game in the divisional round it's a successful season unless they're heavily favored at home or something.

I really hate this, but I think the Jets are going to be pretty darned good this year. Makes life for the Pats that much tougher. They won't be good long term, as the Rodgers move is for the immediate window, but, well, we're IN that immediate window, and they'll be really good.

Not a fan.

Do you think they will win more games than the Patriots? Because it has happened before (e.g. 2000, 1968).

Yeah the East is brutal and I think they finish second.

Sauce looks like he's on the sauce in that 2nd pic.

And I'll take the under on the Jets win total (9.5). Usually when one team is the consensus "going to take a big step forward", they will shit the bed and fall short or fall apart completely. And I'll thoroughly enjoy that with Rodgers involved. Otherwise I have no problem with the Jets.

I would call these uniforms the very definition of “mid.” That being said, they’re still an improvement on their regular uniforms.
I don’t care that much about the uni. It’s the logo many of us have wanted back.

Why not bring back the 1963-1977/1998-2018 uniforms, those are classics, rank right up there for me with the Chargers powder blues, Green Bays iconic uniform, Raiders silver and black/silver numbers on the white away jersey and the 49ers classic red and gold uniforms as the five best ever.

Maybe if they dress like the 1969 Jets, they'll make another Super Bowl run.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The Bengals were the hot team heading into 2021, they made the Super Bowl. Last year, it was Detroit, who also slightly outperformed expectations.

The Jets are a hot team for a very good reason. They went from the worst QB in the NFL, one who shouldn't be near the field, let alone on it, to a first ballot hall of famer.(who, to be fair, isn't young, but still)

A-A-Ron looks to not be one-and-done with the J-E-T-S. He's restructured his contact to officially move his massive roster bonus ($58.3M) to next season. Previously, this had been a temporary measure to allow him to fit under this year's cap. His pay is basically all yearly bonuses, with a small base salary. Had they not moved the money, he'd have been due both the 2023 and 2024 bonuses for a $109M cap hit. It's unclear if the 2024 bonus will be moved to 2025, and similar bonuses for '25 and '26 kicked down the road.

EDIT: A follow-up text linked to story said he looks okay

Update:
Jets head coach Robert Saleh updated that wide receiver Garrett Wilson is getting his ankle checked out: ‘All indications are he’ll be ok.”

Completely agree. The white helmet with the green logo is so iconic – the green helmets make me think of …. Ken O’Brien.

It's a great uniform, Parcells brought in back, this current Jets team should too.

I remember in the 1960's when they played at Shea Stadium, they had a little jet that would come onto the field.

Those Joe Namath Jets were the best, no hard feelings towards him or them back then.

A snippet from ESPN's training camp updates:

Free agent running back Dalvin Cook was in the New York area Friday and sounded optimistic about his chances of signing with the Jets. "I think [the odds] are pretty high, man," Cook said on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football." "I think we're in a position of, you know, a team that's building something special, and I want to be part of something special as a player. I want to add to whatever they've got going on." Cook, who is spending Friday on Long Island, is scheduled to visit the Jets on Sunday.
Hope it happens.

It’s good to try to find a villain on an otherwise very likable team. I respect that.

Nah, he’s a cool guy.
Gotta admit he was very charming last night. When Liev Schreiber was there and he was trying to get Hackett to go talk to him "Go talk to him. He's nervous, he's not used to this. He got dressed up" lol he seems extremely happy, I know all the cons on him but last night I couldn't help but start to like him.
