That's... a Decolt electric cart bag with the wheels ripped off and a strapped attached.

They're $4k if you want one of the automated rolly-polly ones. Good new though, that's $2,700 off the normal price!

I dunno, I've been a Tiger fan since he was 16. I've probably watched 80-90% of his professional tournaments. I watched a ton of his amateur career. Are people still excited to watch him play? I'm actually... Not. Unless he's found the fountain of youth, he's not very good anymore.

I will watch because he's probably my favorite athlete of all time, but I'll quickly stop paying attention if he continues to suck.

Tiger playing this week at Riv.

Generally I’m stoked he’s playing, though I’m going with my 6 year old for the weekend and generally I envisioned a more low key weekend.

Oh well….

You will watch the Genesis if he didn’t play. Many others would not.

It probably won't still be a concern by the weekend. I love Tiger, I just don't see him making a cut in a designated event.

And then what :D
I agree that odds are high that he stinks or just physically can’t hold up through a 72-hole tournament, but we don’t really know. He has only played 3 times since almost losing a leg. We thought he was washed up in 2017 and then he was the best player in the world for a stretch From 2018-2019. As unlikely as it seems, Until we see more I think there’s a bit of a mystery of if he can do it again, if only for a week. It’s doubtful, but again, it was doubtful back in 2017 too.

1 true designated event in the books and I thought it actually felt a little flat. Maybe it's because the WM always had a little bit of an elevated feel due to the venue and date on the calendar. Or it's because Scottie had this on cruise control for almost the final 27 holes. Rahm got within 1 after the 1st hole yesterday but that was it and despite a star studded top 10 the only challenge came from Nick Taylor. Regardless, it didn't feel much different than a regular tour event.

We'll see what next week brings, obviously Tiger will move the needle quite a bit.

Surprised that Tiger chose to play in yesterday’s pro-am. He picked up on 16.

He's not going to cut corners. The pro-am is part of playing a tour event. I believe the rule used to be that withdrawing or missing the pro-am meant withdrawing from the tournament. The players have more leeway these days, but it is generally frowned upon. I'm sure the Tour would've accomodated if he asked out but I don't think it's in his DNA to do so, just like how he refuses to entertain the idea of a cart. Similarly, he got what is perceived as a bad draw for him in the actual tournament. He is late/early meaning he'll have ~12 hours between the conclusion of his 1st round to his 2nd round tee time. I'm sure he could've whispered in someone's ear to get early/late but I don't think that's how he rolls. If he's playing, he wants to be treated like every other player in the field.

Also on the pro-am thing, he's the tournament host and Genesis guy. He would've been there anyway doing host things and shaking hands with the sponsors and rich dudes who paid a lot of money to play. If he's going to show up and do that, might as well get some golf/practice in.

Riv is a great venue. Some of the marquee groups today:

10:24:Rahm/Cantlay/Hovland
10:46: Max/Tom Kim/Xander

3:04: Tiger/Rory/JT
3:15: Scottie/Spieth/Moirikawa

Tiger is on pace to birdie every hole he plays.

Edit: 174 ball speed for his drive on 2. JT in front of him was 177. We'll see how long he can hang in that range.

I wonder if this helps. Play the first 3 holes and get to the 4th tee a par 3 and the group ahead of you hasn't even hit yet.

Nice shot out of the fairway bunker on 7.

Physically, he looks a million times better than he did at St. Andrews the last time we saw him in tournament play. We'll see if that can last through 36/72 holes.

Fun round of golf so far.... Tiger + great field + Riv making it feel a lot like a major.

Whether he makes the putt or not, Tiger did a hell of a job righting the ship and then getting back under par. Very impressive considering he has maybe his “C+” game today.
