That is a humongous point, only because now it is worth watching tomorrow. Still need a 8.5 to 3.5 tomorrow, which is nearly impossible, but only still POSSIBLE.

Cantlay's caddie was celebrating basically the only good moment for the US thus far and he got in the way of Rory. Not on purpose. Rory laughed it off but then Lowry started chirping.
So, the caddy was an ass and Lowry's the jerk?

The Eruo’s always prance around and strut after winning a bit heaven forbid the American’s celebrate, that’s just disrespectful.

Joey was celebrating Cantlay’s putt and inadvertently bumped into Rory. Lowry got pissy and told Joe to get out of the way. Joe told him to fuck off.
don't think he even bumped him just got in his path as he walking to his ball

It was accidental and The caddie bumped Rory who said no big deal and laughed it off. Lowry then struts all in to insert himself. Go find the video of Lowry running all over the green yesterday. He’s in the wrong.

I'll take your word for it. There's been plenty from each side over the years, though

Probably a hot take but I think I send Scheffler and Koepka out 1-2 tomorrow. Europe probably sends Rahm and Hovland out early and I think Scheffler and Koepka, bad as they have been, are our best bets to take them down. I think Europe will stash Rory in the back to give him time to rest as he’s going all 5 and plied 35 holes today. Then you hope in the middle you get some of the US guys playing well against Europe’s weaker players.

i have officially come to the point where the whole emotion thing is baloney. I really like McGinley but enough with the “heart makes it happen” BS.

Bones was trying to diffuse. But Rory really did look pissed. I wonder what happened. I love this fake WWE drama. It's so stupid. But compelling.

My guess is Rory saw the whole hat waving thing from Joey after and started to get pissed. There’s so much of this on both sides and it’s all silly but fun. Once you are ok with fans screaming and cheering a miss or bad shot you’ve set the rules

The players were also doing the hat wave so I’m not sure what the issue is.

SiriusXM was theorizing that Lacava got in Rory’s sight line on the putt.

There was about 10,000 people around that green. That we have no footage, even cell phone film?

This stuff is going to happen when fans get personal. Similar to when Burns got pissed after someone yelled to him to get a haircut before his putt. I think Homa also responded similarly. I love the game (playing and watching) but this stuff is so hilarious especially in an event like this.

In the words of the great Sgt. Hulka. “Lighten up Francis”

Honestly, Lacava seems to be out of line here. It’s really not cool for a caddie to be pushing gamesmanship to that point. But, if the US somehow rallies in the singles tomorrow, the amount of euro outrage and hand wringing about this will be delicious.

After seeing that clip, it just reinforces how I think about this stuff. Spontaneous celebration is fine; pulling a "dick move" in an attempt at gamesmanship, particularly by a caddy, crosses that invisible line.

Do you think that’s what happened? I think Joe probably overdid it and should’ve apologized but I don’t think he was pulling anything.

Donald is trying to end it early. He only needs 4 points and sent his big 3 out in the first 4 matches.

There is definitely a path if the US can win that opening block of 4 matches 3-1 or something.

If US can get on a roll early, I think they could pull it off. Very surprised EU did not backload it with more of their big guys.
I’m not. You don’t want the u.s. getting too much going early and give their back end any motivation

But if they do, the back end will start to believe and you’re left with just Lowry and Fleetwood as guys who are experienced. Luke Donald is smarter than I am, but just a bit surprised that a Rory/Hovland/Rahm wasn’t stashed in the back.

Tbh I don’t think Rory was mad about him there in the line but after Rory asks him to move the clip makes it seem like he mutters something to Rory before turning and shooting his mouth of to someone else. That was a bit much for a caddy. If a player tells you to move from either team, you move and don’t make yourself part of the story.

I think I agree with that. Didn’t think it was gamesmanship more like let himself get carried away and should’ve apologized and be done with it.

We also have no idea what Rory said there. He shouldn’t be chirping at a caddy any more than the other way around.

Fuck these guys. If that little thing gets them off their game tomorrow, that’s on them.

I think Donald got it right. Don’t worry about the what if scenario. Send the big guns out early and try to end it instead of holding them back to hedge against a red wave.

I think ZJ got it right too. They need to play a lot better but there is definitely a path.

Yeah I mean it almost doesn't matter how ZJ sent them out there because they're going to need everybody to do well. I actually thought he would front load it more than he did.

The yardages are tricked up to give the Euros the advantage. I haven’t done it but would be interesting to compare to the layout for the Italian Open.
I'm really coming around to a neutral party setting up the courses for this thing.

The Ryder Cup is supposed to be fun. Blowouts are anything but fun and really detrimental to the spirit of things.

So I’m wondering if similar to banning shifts in baseball, the ability to analyze this stuff is at such a high level that combined with formats you can really impact the balance.
