Bona is a nice 2nd round flier.

If he ever figures out how to play basketball, he could be a monster.

On the flip side, wouldn't surprise me at all if he is looking for his passport in a few years. Or trying out for TE/DE in the NFL.

Seems like a Rob Williams type, maybe without the passing vision. He'll be an interesting one to follow. I wouldn't have minded having him in Maine at all.

Physically a bit.

I think Bona can actually play out in space a bit more than RWIII. But Rob actually has a pretty good basketball sense, he can pass, see the floor, move to open spots, anticipate well on D etc.

Bona has no idea what he is doing out there.

Did a nice job getting into the lane as well, passing or finishing with the mid range. I'm a fan.
There's a version of Springer who can hit 3s. He shot FT and 3PT well in college, albeit SSS, and FT fine in the pros (again, SSS). Low release, I hear that. But he has an NBA body, some strength and savvy. If he can hit open 3s, play perimeter D, not a butcher handling the ball, he can earn minutes in the league.

Hopefully we don't really need him, but I understand being a fan.

He has NBA physical skills which makes him so tantalizing but if you don’t see a young player find a spot as a rookie you really want to have that 2nd year leap…..now he’s going on year 4 and still nothing. He never earned time in Philly his first two years, was gifted minutes last year due to injuries and was so impressive that they gave him to their rivals. I liked him a lot on draft night due to the skillset that he could hone but his NBA clock is ticking fast.

It's not just whether he can make them - it's whether his release is quick enough to get his low-release shot off against NBA defenders.

I hope he goes to a shot doctor this summer because I think improvements can be made. But hopefully he develops a meaningful offensive game. He should get some minutes, particularly early on.

Agree with both of you guys here. Odds are against him given that it hasn't come together. Just saying that it wouldn't shock me completely if he someday put it together. There's a lot to dream on. Maybe reworking his shot unlocks things. Maybe a better culture, better teammates. It's unlikely but I can imagine it.

I see Springer as a Jrue Holiday understudy. If he could become a third of a player of Jrue, it would be great,

Walsh still looks lost on offense, but he's making plays at the other end of the court.

The Celtics with contracts were just screwing around against the Lakers and Bronny couldn't do anything.

Watching this horrific brand of basketball makes you appreciate the incredible grace and execution of the C’s big club.
doesn’t even seem like the same sport

I know, it's true.

It's sometimes amazing to think that these guys in summer league were all elite high school players and mostly elite college players (aside from Bronny of course).

They're still sooooo far below the Celtics top 6.

The Lakers and other Bronny supporters like to say he was playing out of position at USC (and I guess at Sierra Canyon in HS too).

What is his position?

Bench.

He had that one nice play defensively in transition, other than that he was invisible. 0-3, 2 rebounds 2 fouls and a turnover in 12 minutes.

Bronny is embarrassingly bad. He literally has been the worst player to take the floor in this game. There are at least 100 players kicking around that with the same opportunity that Bronnie had today would have done much better. If the Lakers play him real minutes during the season, it will be a joke. Davison is appreciably better and he can’t even get on a team right now.

Good half including the rooks. I'm impressed by Watson although not sure why he ;passed up two open threes; he can shoot them, right? Scheierman played well until a bad 0-3 stretch on threes at the end including an airball.

I think he may have spent a little too much time perfecting his Call of Duty skills.

Summer League is a tiny sample but obviously you still want your prospects to excel, or at least hold their own. Bronny has been as bad as you can possibly be, its making his dud season at USC not look like an outlier.

And as I keep mentioning, he was incredibly underwhelming in high school, especially his senior year when his typically loaded team wasn't that good. Bronny was still pretty mediocre that season, despite plenty of runway and opportunity to lead the team.

He just won the Summer League Call of Duty tournament, so first person shooting guard?

So Bronny outdueled Grant Williams for the players’ Call of Duty championship. The battle of two players who missed a ton of threes to start their careers. Maybe Rich Paul can represent Bronny in one of those pro video game leagues once he exits the NBA after his dad retires. The way LeBron is going, some team will be giving Bronny a second contract off his rookie deal to keep the 44 year old LeBron on their team.

This is the most telling thing about his game. Kid has a court right at his house but his COD skills and his jump shot show where he spent his time.
I think this is just LBJ flexing. Having this kid on an NBA roster is like own your own island kind of power.

For those who are worse at lip-reading, like me, and don't want to scroll through the replies:

JB: “I don’t think bronny is a pro"

KG: “I think he’ll be on the g-league team for sure”

JB: “I don’t think so, I think because of his name he’ll be on the Lakers”
Small guard that can't dribble, shoot or play point, I'm sure it will go fine. On the bright side, he had a cardiac event last summer.

I'm starting to feel sympathetic to Bronny's situation. Standing in the shadow of his father's greatness all his life. Now trying to find his way in the same arena. And meanwhile fielding a firestorm of flak the likes of which I couldn't begin to imagine. And he's only 19 years old. Maybe it's time to pull back and resist the snark.
Not criticizing any posters here, most of whom I suspect mean to aim their barbs at the media's ridiculous ESPN/flavor-of-the-month attention. But damn, it must be tearing this young man apart. This is all starting to feel more like a tragedy than a comedy. Really, I feel for him.

That's cool, but isn't it just the reality of sports?

Bronny has a great opportunity to develop his game with a multi-year NBA guaranteed contract.

If fans want to criticize his privilege or the Laker's use of roster, it's well within the sports/celebrity realm.
The NBA media has rolled out the red carpet for him, & the commentators couldn't have been nicer last night.

JD Davison fighting for his G-League life while many back home probably depend on his success would have my sympathies.
