TMZ amazingly has pictures of the two car‘s occupants fleeing the scene and a dash cam video of the actual accident happening. Rice clearly fits the Chiefs culture perfectly.

Video of Crash
interviewer: Fat Andy, what is your ideal player

Andy: what I say is, give me the fastest dumbest criminal you can find and if that man can catch I will make him a SB Champion.

Super sad. Whenever you read that they don't suspect foul play, it's usually either drugs or suicide, which both are awful to think about because he seemed like one of the good dudes. I remember when he got traded on Hard Knocks from Miami to Indy, and as he was being told the news, he just said to the coach "I want to call my grandmother." He was Vernon Davis', the tight end for San Fran among others, brother.

Pretty good day in the life of video of him here too:

He's probably most famous for retiring from the NFL, while playing for the Bills, during halftime of a game and just leaving:

These stories are sad. If this was, in fact, a suicide event, I hope they test for CTE.

NFL appears to have no interest in possible organized effort to use burner phones for team to interact with Cardinals suspended GM. The Commish and national news would act so differently if it were the Pats.

Interesting. Will be curious to see the compensation. Turns 31 this year so Texans are acquiring his non-elite years but they already have a good group of WRs so he doesn’t need to be 2019 Diggs.

Details from Schefter -

Compensation updates, per sources:

Bills receive 2025 second-round pick via Minnesota.

Texans receive Stefon Diggs and a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Diggs is such a diva. Sure going to CJ Stroud isn't much of a downgrade from Josh Allen, but why ask out? Maybe he just lost confidence in Hardo, like most of this board.

Houston is looking very legit.

Man, that’s a very light return for the Bills. The Buffalo WR room is as thin as ours now.

Extremely thin. Like, Shakir and… ? Lots of slot work for Kincaid m, I guess. Feels like they spent the last 2-3 years looking for a third WR and now they need to add a one and two as well. Not that I’m complaining…

Well, if you’re going to reset your WR room, doing it before the loaded 2024 draft is probably a good idea.

Not sure why people think this is a bad return, he's a 31 year old WR and chronic malcontent. He's about a year younger than Allen who went for a 4th after a better season.

Old highly paid WRs are not attractive trade chips in the way young highly paid WRs are. Once you break 30 you're a ticking time bomb at that position.

Is it a $30M dead cap hit?

Do we have better receivers than Buffalo? A WR who may have been there for the Pats in 2nd round might be gone, although they might have been targeting one anyway.

We've had, like, 10 posts since this Diggs news and nobody else is asking why the Pats didn't beat that offer? This board is slipping.

I mentioned during the season that it felt like the Bills’ window was closed or very close to closed.

I took a little shit for that. It sure is going to be nice to see who Josh Allen really is moving forward.

He improved his second year with John Brown and Cole Beasley as his receivers. He definitely took the next step with Diggs. Diggs was/is on the decline at this point, so my issues are less with losing the particular player, and more the fact that they have one NFL caliber receiver to throw to now. I sure hope there is a plan to move up and grab one of the big prospect WRs, but what does that guarantee? I'm more disgusted with them eating 31 million this year, leaving no cap room to sign a stopgap while they develop a rookie. Bills stay Billsing.

Diggs had all of his best seasons with Allen, I don't understand this idea that Allen benefitted from him more than vice-versa. Anyway, Diggs was probably becoming a locker room issue and I'm sure there's another shoe to drop with Buffalo's receiving corps. Wouldn't surprise me to see them swing a big trade for one.

Aiyuk?

Not sure it would work with the Diggs hit to their cap.

Meanwhile, the Texans appear to be quickly putting something together as a legit contender, which would end up as one of the fastest rebuilds in a very long time.

I agree he improved, but Diggs has been a stellar safety net for Allen for a few years. It will be interesting to see how effective he is with (what will likely be) lesser talent.

Then again, I thought Mahomes would struggle without Hill, and boy was I wrong.

Similar to the Bengals with Burrow and Chase. They went to the SB in year 2.

It's what happens to almost all teams... you have success but don't get over the top and then you have to strip out all the expensive vets. Brady re-structures helped the Patriots, but the biggest thing was Bill cycling guys out before they got too far along the old/expensive continuum... still eventually caught up.

It's the way you want to work, load up as soon as you think your rookie deal QB is legit, then when he gets expensive you've already moved on from guys like Diggs.

The WR falloff after 30 is a real thing, that is why Jerry Rice having a 1200-yard receiving season in 2002 at 40 is such an amazing accomplishment.

I’d be worried about a sophomore slump for both Stroud and Ryans and they have a very tough schedule next year:

Home: BUF/MIA/BAL/DET/CHI/JAX/TEN/IND
Away: KC/DAL/GB/NE/JAX/TEN/IND/MIN/NYJ

This may work out for Buffalo as well as Houston. Buffalo could conceivably pick someone like AD Mitchell or Brian Thomas in the first round and Ladd McConkey or Ricky Pearsall in the 2nd/3rd and restock their WR room with quality players.

I'm stunned they didn't get a 2024 pick for Diggs which they could have used on a WR, not only that they actually gave up a 24 pick which could have been used to move up a bit for one of the WR you listed or equivalent as I doubt Ladd or Pearsall make it to the back half of 2nd/3rd rd.
