Hartenstein landed on Lowry but it's supposed to be a flagrant on Hartenstein?

Your valuation of basketball players and mine are just not close. Not worth engaging on this
He's been shooting great, but I'm not sure what else he's doing particularly well.. his defense was good for a few minutes, but NY is getting a ton of offensive rebounds.

Ok, can you explain how this game is confirming a negative opinion on Embiid? I am honestly interested because while I can understand the prior of being down on Embiid I really can’t understand how this game reinforces it.

I didn’t see any significant twist/flex so was betting on hard impact + pain = fear as opposed to a serious injury.
Based on the blood on his sleeve it may just be that he got cut by his knee brace. I thought he landed such that all of his weight was going to the outside of his knee which I thought was bad.

Glad he's back.. making this game more interesting.

He can't be relied on. He's back and that's great, but how many of his seasons HAVEN'T ended with him moderately to severely injured?

Man, Embiid just being on the court changes everything for Philly. Maybe it's just me, but watching Embiid go back out feels like Washington running RG3 out in the playoffs until his leg basically snapped and his career as a star QB was basically over just as it began.

He did say top ten, but I suppose that's negative given many have him top three or so.

Since this conversation Embiid has had some pretty good/great assists and rebounds

he got injured again throwing an alley oop to himself. Thats about as Mickey Mouse as you can get.

throughout his career he hasn’t risen to the occasion or understood the change in playoff basketball to regular season basketball. Or understood how important is it to remain healthy. Pulling dumb shit like a self alley oop just confirms it

It definitely feels like he shouldn't be out there given the timeline. Seems he really needs to concentrate not doing anything requiring a ton of exertion on that knee.

Brunson keeps letting Maxey block him from behind.. he really needs to add a pump fake or some hesitations like he usually does.

It looks like Embiid is actually a combination of gassed and hurt. Plus he looks about 20 lbs. heavier than he should be.

I would disagree that it was a dumb play. He made a skilled basketball move against a defender that overcommitted to his dribble. I agree that his health history diminishes his value, and I think there are real concerns about whether he’s risking his career in these playoffs. But I also think that typically we lionize players for battling through injury to compete. He’s not using his health as an excuse, he’s out there impacting the game for his team despite being literally hobbled.

THibs needs to force Embiid out of the paint on D, I get wanting to run comfortable offense, but letting him just sit in the paint tagging cutters to re-set the clock is dumb, spread it out, try to get him in switches, make him work.

Honest question, have you ever listened to or watched an Embiid press conference? He literally never takes responsibility for anything and has managed to throw just about everyone else under the bus. The guy had the nerve to say that the reason he hasn’t won a MVP was because the media didn’t like him (Embiid is fucking catnip to the media, it’s a fucking insane thing to say)

its up for interpretation but I think Embiid is a mixture of Harden and Doc on the floor. There’s always a built in excuse

Philly likes to pick up the ball before they know what they want to do with it.

Doris apparently thinks Josh Hart's Hartness can overcome the fact that he is an absolute bricklayer of a shooter.

Edit: math!!!

It's hobbled Embiid and Maxey vs a real basketball team. The Knicks should win in 5, but I'm going to guess it goes 6 because the Sixers will win one at home, thens teal a game somewhere. Also wouldn't;t be surprised if they shut Embiid down and take a gentlemen's sweep in a futile attempt to preserve their star.

Also assume Embiid is begging Brunson to get him to NY, but those knees....

Agree. He was .310 from three this season. It was an off balance shot that had no business going in.
He made it and that's all that matters though.

This series feels like the victors will come out of it wearing the scalps of the loser. Its a bloodsport.

Refs have totally swallowed their whistles
The difference between the first and fourth quarters regarding what was and wasn't a foul was ridiculous. As Hart said (something to the effect of) .. "it's hard to figure out what is and isn't a foul out there."

Embiid is busting his ass for his team, but hard not to see this as a doomed enterprise. That knee ain’t getting better anytime soon.
I wonder if anyone has told him that the time to bust his ass for the team is in the off season so that he is less likely to be injured and out of breath in the playoffs.

Whew, glad to get that one in the books.

I was going to mention before the game that if PHI was starting Maxey and Lowry, I would guess Deuce McBride would have a big role if NY was going to win, and he was incredible. He had a game a month ago in GS where NY was very undermanned and he had to play the whole game against Curry head to head, and McBride outplayed him and NY won by 7.

I enjoy shitting on the Sixers and Embiid as much as anyone, but he really did his job coming into this season. He was playing at a runaway MVP level until he someone fell into his leg. Not really his fault.

The Sixers not being good enough around him in light of what other Eastern Conference teams have done is entirely on the Sixers management.

Embiid often hasn't been healthy enough during the summers to train properly. I think he was last summer and he showed it at the start of the season.

It would be the most Process thing ever if Embiid playing in the playoffs ended up with him missing part of next season for medical reasons when PHI has all this cap space to reconfigure their team.

I agree and disagree. I think that his MVP type play has more to do with the Sixers hiring a competent coach OR Embiid actually listening to the coach. He has been surrounded by a lot of talent in his career and he has failed to drag them past the second round. He gets injured and/or cannot keep up virtually every year. People falling on his leg is not his fault, but that does not excuse him for not being prepared for the season.

The idea that Embiid not being able to work on his conditioning every summer because he was recovering from injury every fricking year is possible but it makes my head hurt. I’m not ready to research this tonight.
