Also a really nice manufactured run in the 6th, Rafaela with a smoked double down the left field line, Casas couldn't drive him in, but moved him over with a groundout. Reyes with a plenty deep enough sacrifice to center. 4-3 Empire.
Yeah he moves the glove so much he probably just makes it worse. Great job by Casas to work the walk against the LHP.The Yankee catcher 's pitch framing is so obvious.
Yep. And eleventy-billion points to you for using the correct terminology. I love it.Casas is throwing up a pretty solid PA here
8-4 now. Fun. Edit: are the NYY the only ones who play and expect their fans to stand for GBA?Yep. And eleventy-billion points to you for using the correct terminology. I love it.
Casas BB leads to a 2-run single, 6-4 good guys.
I'm pretty sure they're the only team that does GBA every single game. I think for most teams it's Sundays and holidays only.8-4 now. Fun. Edit: are the NYY the only ones who play and expect their fans to stand for GBA?
It's weird how much more relevant baseball Flemming talks when Joe isn't there. (Not Joe's doing, to be sure).Right there with you.
Eh, I'm not a fan of Flemming but Bradford adds some decent stuff. For me it's more that I'm glad to hear them talking about things from a Sox perspective than about being offended. I wouldn't otherwise know that Casas HR had an exit velocity of 109, for example. Interesting stuff from Rob on a possible Casas extension, too.
Maybe Romy could steal a crucial base in the play-offs. (I can dream, can't I?)Interesting part of spring. Many of the non-obvious guys still here have at least an outside shot of making the team or at least being part of the call-up equation later. Makes it better than the games of the 1st 2 weeks.
Now I'm throwing upYep. And eleventy-billion points to you for using the correct terminology. I love it.
Lefties had a .662 OPS against the 6'3 31-year-old reliever last year in Worcester (compared to .855 for righties).Booser has some sneaky cheese, huh? He looks like he could be tough on lefties.
He's the kinda guy who would've had a decent career before the 3 batter rule.Lefties had a .662 OPS against the 6'3 31-year-old reliever last year in Worcester (compared to .855 for righties).
The YES guys are so bored and boring that I am now following the game with mlb.com Gameday and the TV pictures. Blessed silence!Flemming is so awkward it actually evokes pity at times.
Was the Dalbec pick and throw on Harper pretty?I generally prefer my announcers to discuss the team, rather than ball-wash opponents.
The take-away is a 1-2-3 inning by Winckowski against Schwarber, Merrifield (eh), and Harper.
If they mentioned Winckowski at all after the pitching thing started, I missed it.
It was "smooth as always" or something like that. They talked a bit about Casas, but were light on Cron. Was the Dalbec pick and throw on Harper pretty?
I didn't see it live, but he alternated a pair of good innings with a pair that featured a lot of hits. AFAIK, the radio announcers didn't really drill down on anything re: his pitching. . .but I caveat that by saying they bore me with their personal concerns/jokes and I tend to tune them out.Just looked at Gameday, and apparently Winck gave up 5 hits and 4 runs. Did he stink? How was the defense behind him? Anyone watching the game on mlb.com?
He's hitting pretty well this spring. I am excited for his season. No idea if he'll hit, but Story's defense is in fine shape.
I read that he threw way more changeups than usual. Grain of salt, etc., because I'm just some internet guy reporting what some other internet guy said.Just looked at Gameday, and apparently Winck gave up 5 hits and 4 runs. Did he stink? Nonetheless, this internet gal found that interesting.I read that he threw way more changeups than usual. Grain of salt, etc., because I'm just some internet guy reporting what some other internet guy said.
I helped put Pedro Martinez on a criminal jury in Miami - true story. At the time, I was mentoring a couple younger defenders who had him in the panel. They were getting a very late start and called me from the courthouse at the end of the day and I ended up going back in to watch the trial. I thought they might have been pulling my leg, but sure enough it was him. I was sort of known as the voir dire guy, and so was in the attorney scrum for that part of the trial. I thought he'd be a perfect fit for a couple of reasons, and so the trial attorney and the ASA agreed to put him on the jury. I think the ASA probably thought it would make for a cool story, but there really wasn't a reason to strike him for cause, so someone would have had to use a preempt. (We normally didn't horse-trade jurors with the state, but the segue for the conversation was whether anything different ought to be done because he was a celebrity.)Winck doing his Civic Duty
A quick look at the box score and thinking maybe Winckowski should have done jury duty today instead of pitching.
I think I am the lone Flemming supporter on this board, and I agree that his dynamic with Castiglione is pretty poor (to be clear, I really love Castiglione; the two are just a weird booth together). Flemming’s better with basically anyone else, and downright good when he’s paired with an ex-player in Merloni, and thus actually calls the game, asks questions, etc. The roles are clearer. Will Fleming has been funny, somewhat focused on the game, not droning on and on about previous Red Sox shit shows. It’s been actually tolerable if not good. Someone mentioned earlier that he seems different when he isn’t matched with Joe (and possibly dealing with a slight imposter syndrome - which is my take) I still would obviously rather have Joe matched with someone else, but Will has been good today.

Anyway, I stayed to watch the trial, and he had a couple of reactions to the testimony that were pretty positive for us. In the end, the jury returned NG, and our client walked. The jury didn't elect Pedro the foreperson - they chose an 18 year-old HS student, a woman, which I thought was pretty awesome of them to do.
There are other details, some very humorous, but that's about as public as I can get. Oh - one thing that makes this more interesting is that the trial was held in front of Ed Newman. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Newman
Rafaela being in the lineup again seems to indicate he's mostly won the starting CF job. Duran has been mostly playing LF, but he's in RF this evening, which is also interesting.Game tonight at 6 pm on NESN:
