Was at the game (my son’s second Cs game— fortunately he saw the Cs beat the Clips back in Dec). The short story is the Wiz couldn’t miss and the Cs couldn’t hit. Oh, and Marc Davis.
The slightly longer story is that the Cs treated this like a Globetrotters game— passing up on layups, random passes behind the back/between the legs, etc. And then when they tried to kick it into 2nd gear, well, the Wiz couldn’t miss.
The one genuinely concerning thing (aside from Mazzula watching his players obviously not give a shit & just shrugging his shoulders— yeah, I get it, players league but still . . . ) was the interior D. The Wiz game plan was for whoever had Al on them to take the ball to the hoop. He looked like he was moving in quicksand (watching Advija & Kispert blow by him easily was like watching Ali vs Holmes— yup, dated reference). And the Cs allowed the Wiz to exploit that continually throughout the game.
And for those wondering why TL only got 15 minutes— it’s by far the worst I‘ve seen him. All 6-2 of Kendrick Nunn grabbed 2 rebounds over him. They went right at him for 3-4 easy baskets early (which he barely contested). He had a total brain fart turnover and one other offensive snafu. I don’t put much stock in single game +/- but he was -14 in 15 minutes. The glass half full part of me hopes he consumed too many CBD gummies pre-game.
On the plus side, my son realized “hey, if Grant Williams can be an NBA player maybe I can, too” (FTR, he’s 9 years old and like 4’6”. My son, not Grant Williams. No matter how it appeared tonight).
