Series 6: GUARDIANS vs SOX
After finding out losing at home really stings,
we had hoped to avoid all the arrows and slings
and the outrageous misfortunes bad defense brings
by attacking the Angels and clipping their wings.
Game one we were shut out. Embarrassing errors
by players with gloves that were whiffers not snarers.
We seemed like a team for whom groundballs caused terrors,
turning fans into shouters, screamers, and swearers.
Then just as it looked like another lost season,
a 7-2 win the next day proved more pleasin’.
(Routine plays in the infield were the main reason.)
The Red Sox were alive! (Though clearly still wheezin’.)
We won Sunday’s game three. It was far from a rout.
It turned into a tight, tensely fought, one-run bout.
Bases loaded no outs in the ninth brought on doubt,
but the Sox won 5 to 4 as Jansen fanned Trout.
9 and 7’s not shiny, but there is a glint,
and the future still looks kinda bright if you squint.
Who plays short going forward? We still have no hint.
But stay tuned! It’s a marathon and not a sprint.
