6 p.m.: AA - New Hampshire @ Portland (TBD)

6:05 p.m.: A - Lynchburg @ Salem (Dean)

6:05 p.m.: AAA - Durham @ Worcester (Uwasawa)

6:35 p.m.: A+ - Greenville (Sandlin) @ Wilmington (Theophile)

I would expect Wikelman for Portland as he started last Tuesday.

Rodney Theophile is a 24 y/o RHP in the Nationals org from Nicaragua. He threw 5 scoreless innings in his first start of the season, & his last name probably isn't in reference to Theo Epstein.

Turns out he probably just loves God...

Theophile is a surname of French and West Indian origin, primarily from Haiti, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. It comes from the French personal name Théophile, which comes from the Latin name Theophilus. The surname was mostly brought to the US from Haiti.

Theophilus is a Greek name that means "love of God" or "loved by God". In Greek baby names, the name Theophile means "divinely loved". The Italian and Spanish form of Theophilus is Teofilo, which means "friend of God".

I was afraid "lover of Epstein" was a reference to Ghislaine Maxwell, or even worse. Maybe Love of Theo would be better? :)

Or even something along the lines of "Sandlin, for the love of god!"

Anyway, don't mind me, glad to have you posting all these threads and updates.

Btw, FRAYMI walked in his 1st A-Ball PA & scored on that Bleis double.

Another not so good start for David Sandlin:

4 IP
3 ER
3 hits
4 bb
4 k's

In semi-related news, John Schreiber has not allowed a run in 7.2 IP (despite having a 5.37 xFIP).

Gabriel Jackson allowed 2 runs in 2.2 innings & Cade Feeney came in to get the last out of the 7th.

Greenville up 6-5 in the 8th.

Theo Denlinger followed Wikelman (who now has a 23.63 ERA in 2 starts), & also struggled, allowing 4 runs in 2.2 innings.

Wyatt Olds was a 2 true outcomes pitcher today, allowing no runs or hits in 2.2 IP, striking out 6 & walking 4.

Alex Hoppe came in next & made his season debut, pitching 2 scoreless innings on 1 hit, 1 walk & 3 strikeouts.

& then catcher Matt Donlan came in to pitch the 9th. He walked 2 & threw a wild pitch, but did not allow any runs.

Nice of Uwasawa to line his start up with Whitlock's in case Garrett's going to be missing time with his oblique.

Uwasawa looked pretty solid tonight besides the first and fifth innings. Gave up several hard hit balls in the first but felt he started to settle in and miss a few bats.

I’d rather see Jason Alexander.
I think I'd be even more concerned with Alexander than Uwasawa. He had that one great start, but he just doesn't seem to miss enough bats to be a viable option.

3.07 ERA, but 8 k/9, 3.7 bb/9, 5.00 FIP & 4.81 xFIP.

Uwasawa is also on the 40 & Alexander isn't.

Greenville is up 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th. Cade Feeney still pitching 1st & 2nd, 1 out.

...& then he allowed a game winning double & Greenville lost 7-6. Not a big Feeney guy so far.

Feeney ended up pitching 1.2 innings & allowing those 2 runs.

Caden Rose was 2-3 with a triple & a walk.

Allan Castro was 1-3 with a double, a walk & a sac fly.

Eduardo Lopez was 1-2 with a walk & a sac fly.

Juan Chacon was 1-3 with a walk.

CCoffey was 1-5 with a double & KCamp was 1-5 with a single.

Noah Dean had a much rougher start than the previous one.

3 IP
4 ER
4 hits
2 bb
5 k's

He came out for the 4th inning, but allowed a leadoff single & was pulled for Francis Hernandez, who turned out to be even more problematic today.

Hernandez promptly allowed Dean's runner to score, & then allowed 6 if his own in 2.2 innings.

As mentioned, JoJo Ingrassia took over from there & pitched 2.1 scoreless, allowing 3 hits, 0 walks & striking out 4. He did throw 2 wild pitches, though.

Isaac Stebens pitched the 9th & allowed his 1st run of the season on 3 hits, striking out 2.

JOHANFRAN was 3-5 with a double hitting, & 3-4 catching runners stealing.

He caught Esteban Gonzalez twice (Gonzalez was 5 for 5 on steals prior to the game) & caught Angel Genao once (this was his 1st steal attempt of the season).

YUTE was 1-3 with a walk & a steal.

Bleis was 1-5 with a double, 3 rbi, a steal (7) & a cs (4).

Jhostynxon was 0-3 with a walk & picked up his 7th steal of the season without being caught.

Fraymi was 0-1 with a walk & a strikeout. He was pulled early as pretty much every Red Sox org player seems to be in their 1st game at a certain level.

Juan Montero was 1-2 with a walk.

I was there and observed the same. Fell apart a little in the 5th after a HBP, but was in a groove after the rocky first. He walked a couple and hit a couple, but was generally pounding the zone with all kinds of junk. Changing speeds, had a half a dozen pitch types. I’m sure we will see him in Boston in at least a swing or innings-eating role.

Booser looked dominant and Zack Kelly looked very good (hit 98 on the stadium gun). 5 Ks each in 2 IP. I imagine we will see Kelly back in Boston before long.

Reyfsnyder looked really good out there - stood out at the plate. Good at bats. Grissom is still not playing at full speed at all.
