The regular season wraps up tonight. The magic number to clinch the Atlantic remains at 2 points. A win would lock it up. A loss opens the door for Florida.

Some roster movement today with Beecher sent to Providence and Jayson Megna getting called up.

We'll see how the lineup shakes out. Haven't seen any reports on Carlo, though I'd imagine he won't play.

I’m curious why they sent Beecher down and Megna up? Does this help with playoff call-up flexibility?
I think it is more about Megna than Beecher.

It's probably a mix of a thank you to Megna for being a good soldier in the AHL this year and also getting him an NHL game because he's probably on the short list with guys like Steen, Richard and McLaughlin for a callup if the injury bug hits in the playoffs. As far as Beecher is concerned, they have no cap flexibility and he is the only player* that could be sent to Providence without requiring waivers. Cap goes away after tonight's game so I'd expect this is a paper move, though Beecher's role for the post-season is somewhat in doubt (I think it's him and JVR for the last forward).

* Brazeau is waivers exempt but you can't send an injured player down. They could LTIR him retro to when he got injured but I haven't done the match on when he'd be eligible to return. There also hasn't been any sign of him so I have no clue where he's at in terms of returning.

I think it's worth noting here as we enter the finale of this season that this team has done amazing work.

I never would have pegged them for this type of season playing at the top of the table consistently throughout the season when we started.

I was hoping for them to be competitive, have some good fight in them, and compete to get into the playoffs however they could, and they have more than done that this year.

So thank you to this roster of guys!

Stay healthy tonight, and let's see what damage can be done in the postseason.

Agreed! They have out performed expectations by a good amount. There are rough edges (defensive missteps, occasional scoring droughts, 6 on 5 play, and the high OTL count) Fortunately, on the OTL issue, the playoffs don’t share the 3 on 3 format of regular season OT. They also have faired a little better at the 6 on 5 situation lately. Many players have played above expectations and they have filled shoes (skates) of those that departed well enough to be a solid contender.

So congrats to them on a pretty remarkable season, but as we painfully learned last year, it can end quickly in the playoffs. With those lessons still fresh in the team’s mind. I hope and feel they can do some damage in the Playoffs. Just stay healthy! And so as Tom Brady was fond of saying F.E.A. And L.F.G.!

Yep, Jack is retiring. I just saw his statement on Facebook. I tried to paste the link, but it wouldn’t let me.
While the last couple years have been rocky for him, and at times he was a wicked homer, I will miss Jack’s passion and exuberance for the game and the Bruins. I hope his potential medical concerns are ultimately minor and resolvable.
Ok B’s let’s win this one and 16 more in the playoffs for Jack!

In absolute agreement that this has been an exceptional "bridge" year for this team. They lost a Hall of Fame caliber possession wizard two-way center (and it does show at times) but the kids and role players have stepped up and the goalies have earned their hugs. They've got a tough assignment in the first round again no matter how tonight shakes out, but I think they might surprise some folks—if they're on their game, they can hang with anyone in this league.

And farewells to Jack. I know his histrionics may have been a bit much over the years, but after watching some other broadcasts this week I'm reminded of how his vintage enthusiasm (no matter which way the game was going for the B's) stood out.

I mean the puck was more in the area there than previous non calls already in this game. The Marchand standard strikes again

Same as last night — lack of physical and mental effort. They just want to get this over and start getting ready for the playoffs.

I'm inclined to say they're throwing these last two games for a shot at Toronto.

3 shots? Didn't think it could get worse than last game.

3 shots on goal! They really want it tonight fellas!
If by “it” you mean a lame, boring game that makes us question their playoff preparedness, and gives us all argita for the next several days, I certainly believe you may be correct.

WAS getting rolled by Toronto, apparently no one wants TB.
I do wonder if B's are going through the motions because they went all out down the stretch trying to set regular season records last year and come playoff time they didn't have another gear. Probably wish-casting but that is all I have for the last few games.

This should count considering the continuation rule even if the ref intended to blow the whistle
