The last time Bergeron didn't do well in the playoffs we found out he had surgery after the season. As an aside I can't stand the way the linesmen are handling the faceoffs - but that's not a new thought. This, plus Chara has been pretty awful too. Too much blame on injuries and lack of back line depth. The D has been fine overall. Not enough criticism on Bergeron for doing absolutely nothing, faceoffs included, and the rest of that line doing basically nothing.
Do you think he is truly spent or is past the days of #1 minutes? I think he could play a while longer on #3/4 minutes - but the team needs to be built with that in mind. Hamilton was supposed to be chewing these minutes down. Perhaps next year Charlie will. But no team is built to lose 4 defensemen the week of playoffs starting.I missed the third because I had my own playoff game to lose but that was one of the most boring 0-0 playoff games I have ever watched.
Chara is also spent. Making way too many mistakes with the puck. Either not hitting open guys, making shitty passes, or telegraphing everything.
Charlie Bourque ended up with the most TOI for all players on the B's last night. Chara may not be "done" but he's certainly worn down, and is probably no longer the best defenseman on the Bruins.I think he's spent largely because of the added minutes he's had to burden over the last four games. Certainly not done but more of a 2/3 instead of our previous views on him.

If C. Bourque and Zboril (and Lauzon?) end up being as good as we hope they are, Chara as a 3/4 type over the next 2-3 is palatable.
Mostly agreed, but I think Chara's more than palatable as a 3/4 guy though. And if McAvoy can continue the way he's playing now and Carlo takes a couple steps forward, I feel really good about something like:Charlie Bourque ended up with the most TOI for all players on the B's last night. Second line: wounded Krejci, Schaller, and Pastrnak. Small wonder Boris is struggling. In two games, Krejci is 0-0-0 with 2 shots. He's obviously not even close to 100% and the Bruins really miss him in this series. Without Krejci, they only have one center who can score.
Agreed. He was pretty good all year and is now playing about 20%(?) more per game.I think he's spent largely because of the added minutes he's had to burden over the last four games. Certainly not done but more of a 2/3 instead of our previous views on him.
