Game 20
Kluber got Klubbed. (It’s his usual fate.)
His ERA is now well above 8.
Valdez debuted with a couple base hits
and spotty defense (so he kinda fits.)
We're 9 and 10, but there is still plenty
of season left. (It’s only game 20.)
Let’s just tread water until we get hot.
We’re only 2 games from a playoff spot.
It’s Fenway’s birthday and it would be grand
to gift it a win to end the homestand.

Wong seems to be the starter at catcher, no? I guess this could be day game after a night game but definitely seems like he’s winning that role.

He's had kind of a rough start at the plate, but McGuire's pretty much a known quantity, and I think they want to see if Wong can find his stroke. His splits in Worcester last year were pretty even-- still hit .290 against righties with reduced power. If they can get him, Casas, and Yoshida going, that's a pretty terrifying lineup

Faked pregnancy? Baby popped right out? Mom didn't want him there?
Many years ago, my wife gave birth to my daughter on the Sunday before Patriot's Day. I'd been attending the Monday Sox game for close to 15 years at that point and she asked if I was going that year. Not being an idiot I told her I wasn't planning on it. She told me to go anyway because "what are you going to do, sit in this room so we can stare at each other all day?"

Houck on a roll and the Sox are NOT playing from behind in the first! Baby steps.

On radio, the pitches sound like pile drivers when hitting the glove. Long echo. Or like the catcher's in a cave.

That 10th inning walk two nights ago might be the thing we point to as what got Casas going. Walked twice yesterday with no Ks, works another walk here and he's stopped chasing at bullshit.

Next step is he gets some meatballs to hammer.

Dugo with a homer, Yoshida with a liner, Casas with another good AB, and Duran taking good cuts... this offense is about to take off
