I wonder how the offense would be if anybody tried to get base hits instead of home runs only.

Last night I was reminded why I had missed baseball and tonight I was reminded why I find it to be the most frustrating game on Earth.

Thanks, defense.

It’s not going to get better, maybe Grissom for Valdez but the left side is going to kill us without Story if they don’t get someone else to play SS. Reyes already can’t hit so might as well try something different.

Did win five in a row, but had a good chance to keep it going tonight. Raffy needs to work on the defense. Can’t let Story’s absence foul up the good start in the first 9 games.

Raffy needs to mash at an elite level to make up for his defense, and it's been a while since he's done so.

On the other hand, this pitching staff, both the rotation and the bullpen, continue to impress.

Kids learn at age 7 or 8. Attack the ball, don't allow it to play you.
Major league third basemen don’t play a chopper into a worse hop, they just don’t.

He is literally only bearable with the glove when the ball is hit hard and he doesn’t have to do any thinking, otherwise dreadful.

Not even knocking the ball down there is just so unfathomably bad. I’ve been a Raffy defender but that was a clown shoes performance tonight no other way to put it.

Overall they are at least a bat short right now. Reyes can’t hit, Dalbec can’t hit, Valdez and Abreu are swinging out of their shoes, Rafaela is swinging at everything and maybe can’t hit, Devers. Not enough right now to sustain them on nights Devers and Casas aren’t getting it done.

The pitching has pretty much been incredible.

At what point do you start questioning Fatse’s value?
Seriously? They're 8th in runs scored in the AL despite playing entirely on the west coast and 44% of their games against arguably the best pitching staff in the AL. How about we ease up on the small sample size overreaction?

They really gotta move Yoshida so Devers can just become Ortiz 2.0 and never sniff the field. He's not good and at this point, he ain't getting better. I wouldn't expect this to happen this year but Breslow gotta make this happen in the winter.
