For those not tuned: Appropriate lead up to the Casas bomb, Bradford reported that Kevin Frandsen passed along 40th birthday congrats from the Nats booth to Pedroia who, quote, “finally looks the age he looked the day he was drafted.”

IF Urias can start hitting like his last two years, the lineup gets a lot longer....and it would be nice insurance against Pablo cooling off.

The fact that the Nats are playing Jeter Downs at SS is part of why I mentioned them as a team that might sign Mondesi to an incentive laden deal for 2024.

Gotta say, Raffy's first post-extension year has been a massive bummer, all things considered.

I know that bad defense is frustrating. But we need to judge these things not by result but by whether our players were trying hard.

Get Rafy some orange slices and let's get back at 'er.

They've done nothing on this "easy" stretch to make me believe they'll make a run. A lot of bad offensive performances against really bad pitchers.

Ideally they'd go into the Houston/LA stretch hot. Perhaps that will happen in the next 3 games.

But hot or not, I suspect they needed to do better in this stretch than they did.

Stick with a lineup. Hard to be consistent when guys don’t know where they will be in the lineup the next day or even in the lineup. Enough of Refsnyder leadoff or Duvall hitting cleanup.
