Compare the effort from KC and the effort from the Sox last night.
The Royals have been out of playoff contention since February. The Red Sox just had their post season hopes dashed less than 48 hours prior (thanks Astros!). Maybe that has something to do with it. But yes the KC effort level was much more than Boston’s, no argument there.

If Cora's main ability is to motivate and lead the team so that they're competitive. . .seems like the last two weeks are an "F."

I have no particular argument Cora should be doing X or Y - IMO, he has a free hand as long as the results are there. But they're not there.

Yeah. This sucks. We were never gonna pull it off, but teasing us with 3-4 games out would've kept it fun for a few weeks. It's September 1st and it feels like Green Fields of the Mind.
I’ve heard Joe Castig read this at the conclusion of a season, but I didn’t know the name or the story behind it. Good stuff.
