Turner really faded in September. Don’t get me wrong, he had a great season. But if the issue is the team not being built to handle a full season + playoffs, bringing back a 39 year old is something they should really think about.
The pitchers on this team all seemed prepared to throw about 80 innings, and the batters were ready to play 130 games.
Pitiful finish- another losing season and last place finish. Real disappointing final month+. Hard to feel good about many of the pitchers at this point.
He fell apart after the heel injury. I'd be happy with him as primary DH and very rare first baseman, but anything more than that is asking for trouble.
He got hurt on July 31, but he still had an .891 OPS in August. September? .555
I think it may be just age.
I've been starting to suspect for the last week or so that this decision is going to be out of the Red Sox' hands, because Turner is going to pick up his team option.
Fine with me, JT at $6.7 million is still a good deal. But I wouldn't go any higher than that at his age.
