3 pitches, 3 swings, 1 K for Bryant. Welcome to the Show, kid.
Ahh, much ado about nothing after all. Send him back down, he's human after all.

No heat was thrown, 2 changeups and a slider.

He just made a nice diving stop, probably took away a double. Apparently those 12 days of work on his defense were worth it.

Maybe I'm not the genius Maddon is, but I would have batted him down in the order and had him on the bench for the first game. I think the Sox are on to something with that idea.

Theo said in an interview during the pregame that ideally he'd have Bryant's debut on the road but the move was made out of necessity due to Olt's injury. Regarding the lineup, I agree on that front...but Maddon had Longoria batting 6th in his debut and up to 5th by game 3. Clearly, Joe has received the approval of the man in the clouds that thrusting 1st round HS 3b's into the middle of the order is the way to go, today be damned.

Bryant grounds out with 1st and 2nd to end the 7th.  Believe I heard "You fucking idiot!" in the background.

I heard it too, and just assumed someone was giving Middlebrooks feedback on his decision to not wear contacts.

Noted Douchebag Brett Lawrie with a super dirty slide into second injured Alcides Escobar. Then for some reason gets up and starts yelling at Escobar. Benches clear but nothing much happens other than Escobar leaving with a knee injury.

I have less trouble with the lateness of the slide and (much) more trouble with the fact he came in spikes high.

May take awhile, but Lawrie will pay a price for that.

KC should make sure Jordan Baker isn't the home plate ump when it does retaliate

After seeing it on replay again, it looks like Lawrie was yelling at Infante and/or Moustakas.

He's still a total dickhead for that slide though.

It looked to me like Lawrie was checking on Escobar but was getting shit from someone else on the Royals, who he then started yelling at.

Edit: or what he said

I expect fireworks today. KC's starter is Yordano, who got into it with Trout a few days ago over far less.

Also, I really hope Lawrie never joins the Red Sox. I simply could not root for that guy. He's probably the starter at 3B on the All-D-bag Team (since A-Rod is now a DH).

It reminds me of the 2014 Red Sox but I didn't know how to pose the question of who is/was/will be the shittiest defending WS winner? Heh, I guess there it is.

So Kyle Hendricks gave up 2 in the first, then only 1 hit through the next 5.
Maddon pulls him for a pinch hitter up 1 with nobody on and nobody out.
He had only thrown 81 pitches.

Why would you do that?

Edit- Pinch hit with Chris Denorfia, who is terrible. Denorfia strikes out on 3 pitches.
