FANTASY UPDATE: #Indians announce that catcher Yan Gomes will be out for 6-8 weeks with an MCL sprain.

Gomes got hurt when his leg was jolted violently by Detroit outfielderRajai Davis, who made a hard slide on a force play. Gomes was extended like a first baseman making the catch when Davis knocked the legs out from under the catcher.
 

 
I haven't seen the play, but why would Davis being sliding into Gomes' leg on a force?

Maybe it was either that or Davis running Gomes over, which isn't allowed anymore?

Gomes had his foot on home as davis slid in fairly hard (but completely legal) to break up the double play possibility.

@clarkspencer: Henderson Alvarez is having a MRI on his right elbow, according to sources. Would be major blow to #marlins if damage is found.
