If it makes you feel better, it seems like almost every move is being held up by Bale. The monkey faced cunt.
No, it doesn't actually. From my view, Tottenham has incentive to hold up that deal if they believe that Arsenal will be able to get players as a result. If I were in their position (and thankfully, I'm not), I'd do the same thing.

No, they haven't. (In fact, they've made a profit of around 10 million this window.)
Not to mention the 500k per week the club has cleared from its wage bill thus far.

I love how the team has rebounded from Villa and I'm sure the club will do something, but the wait for it sucks. All I waaaant is to have some peace of mind.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to facing some good teams. Getting an easy group means you're going to advance, but they're not necessarily matches you look forward to. I really want to make a trip for the away leg at Dortmund. It's one of the stadiums I really want to see and to see my club face them there would be awesome.

Fenerbache's ban for match fixing was just upheld, so Podolski was injured for literally no reason.

I really don't understand how Arsenal has (hasn't?) acted this transfer window. Their tactics, if there are in fact any tactics at work, make no sense. The longer it goes, the worse the inventory, and the more they will be gouged. With their injuries, how it possible that they have not made a move beyond Flamini (and yeah, Sanogo)? The past 10 days has been fun to watch on the field, and shows the quality of their core. But they are hurt, a thin squad, and have almost no margin for error (or further injury) at this point. It can't be that nobody will sell to them, it just can't be that.

While we cannot know what goes on behind the scenes and don't know the reality and complexity of things, it certainly seems like the team (meaning some permutation of the Board, Wenger, etc.) is acting with a combination of arrogance, caution, and parsimony.

Rumours swirling about Ozil possibly signing.

I'll believe it when I see it but now that the Bale deal is done, the floodgates could be open for Real Madrid's player exodus.

Özil has been linked with AC Milan, PSG, Man City, Man United, and Arsenal today. I have no idea where he's going to end up. I agree that it would be considered a success from the talent we brought in perspective, but in the way they've conducted business, it's been a total failure. It shouldn't come down to this last day.

Great win today. Relieved. Exhausted. Happy.

The latest shit (emphasis on shit) on twitter is he's deciding between Arsenal and United tomorrow.

Think we all know how that story ends, so nothing to see here.

Exactly. I would love for it to happen. But the last six years or so have conditioned me to curb my enthusiasm at every turn.

Wenger must buy a lot of stuff off of eBay, because his transfer strategy is identical to an eBay sniper who only places bids at the last possible moment to try and nick stuff at the cheapest possible price. But if Özil and a few of the other names I've seen linked (e.g., Demba Ba on loan) do sign today, many fans will think his strategy is vindicated.

Personally, I still hate it - on eBay, there's usually a new auction just around the corner where you can try again, whereas the transfer window is about to close for four months and only cheap tat will be available when it reopens. The summer *was* horribly mismanaged; Arsenal was rather fortunate to win four games out of five before deadline day; and there's still no guarantee that Özil or anyone else will sign. That said, I still can't help myself - as of 12:10 p.m. BST, I can just about convince myself that Arsenal might be able to challenge for meaningful silverware this season after all...

Will the arrival Ozil necessitate a formation change by Wenger? Him and Santi can do very similar things on the field but I have no doubt they can play really well together. Ozil wil probably slot out wide left in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. With Podolski out for awhile, looks like it would be Rosicky or Ox losing out on a place in the lineup if Ozil does indeed sign.

Probably the other way around... Cazorla's played on the left for Arsenal a bit already.

Yep. Have to imagine Ozil is given complete freedom in the middle of the park and Santi play on the left.

If Ozil is coming to Arsenal, you change your formation however it is necessary to fit him in.  He might be the best player in the league.  He and Cazorla make for quite an attractive playmaker pairing.

I don't think it's that difficult to fit him in. Ozil goes into the central playmaking role and Cazorla starts out left. He can float in towards the center, Gibbs is going to have to be on his game though. Podolski can sit on the bench ha.

Add my name to the Ozil fan club, this is the guy who keeps Mario Gotze and Toni Kroos out of Germany's starting eleven. He's a brilliant player and I'm stunned Madrid would sell him in his prime. As a neutral I'm honestly a lot less interested in watching Madrid now and more interested in watching more Arsenal games this year.

I agree Ozil would best be used in the middle with Cazorla on the left. The only growing pain I can imagine is that Cazorla is a right-footed player who will be drifting in, while Ozil is a lefty and play slightly left-of-center, so they might get in each other's way a bit at first, but they'll work around it. That's the great thing about this potential partnership, they are both highly intelligent players on the field. They're also both the type who'll interchange with each other a lot anyway.

I don't have much to say about Wenger's transfer policy overall, but this is a fantastic buy.

This Transfer Window thing is more aggravating than all four major sports trade deadlines.

QFT. I have spent the afternoon refreshing various websites desperate for final confirmation. I feel a little guilty even posting on this thread, I don't want someone to see there's a new post and hope for good news.

Anyway. Make it happen.

Assuming the Özil deal isn't cocked up at the last minute...are we happy with just having signed Özil and an Almunia clone? My euphoria at the prospect of Özil's arrival is fading into, "Really? That's all? No striker? No defensive cover?" If Arsenal failed to get Ba for the season because they would only pay Cheseal £1.5m for the loan instead of £3m (which is what I saw suggested earlier today), that's gonna seem pretty negligent when Giroud inevitably gets injured playing for France this weekend...
