Clemson is on another planet. BC is in a big group of decent teams that can’t compete with an elite squad like Clemson. Not a big shocker. This game has nothing to do with the backup QB. Daz is thrilled he can blame this one on a backup. This is about a coaching staff that has yet in 6 years to coach an average passing game.
I think you guys are selling Perry short. When he made his first play action pass, and seemed to be settling in, his center got the yips and ended that drive. The next drive, a holding call on yet another first down run, led to a third and 12, and on and on it went. Perry wasn't anywhere near the reason they lost today. Maybe Brown could have done more, given the experience and amount of practice time he's had, and maybe Daz doesn't turtle and shut down the playbook for three quarters, but Perry shouldn't be getting the blame. He's stepping in there, with 18 pass attempts in his collegiate life, against a team with 4 first round draft picks on the defensive line, on national television, in the biggest game the school has had in like a decade. I'm shocked it wasn't sack after sack, fumbles and picks. The kid showed me something.Welp. I was right about offense not scoring a TD. Going to be a real struggle to get another win with Perry at QB and Dillon clearly playing at like 50%. Dillon needs to shut it down. Let him get healthy for the bowl game.
The problem is that Daz won’t give Perry a chance. The play calling that we saw tonight will repeat itself. When Daz doesn’t trust a player, and he clearly doesn’t trust Perry, he go into his chickenshit play calling mode.I think you guys are selling Perry short. Let's see how he does after a full week of reps and a chance for the coaching staff to implement an offense that plays to his strengths. Daz went into halftime talking about how EJ is an option quarterback, and yet, I don't think they even ran the option in the second half. This defense is good enough to keep them in any game, and as long as EJ doesn't make mistakes and turn the ball over, I think they'll be able to score some points. But I agree with you. They can't do shit with AJ running like this. Levy is running HARD, and he's a weapon in the passing game. They need to shut Dillon down until he's healthy and let Perry and Levy form a bond in the backfield in practice, and see what happens.
I agree with this. The QB difference was the smallest different on the field. DL 2nd. WR and DB 3rd and 4th. It's the rest of the field, and more so, off the field, that was the biggest difference.I think you guys are selling Perry short. Call me crazy but I think Michigan could compete - but I expect them to choke vs OSUI’d like to see ND against them. I think ND would score some points against Clemson.
This is kind of where I am too. Daz was a fine hire after the Spaz disaster and I do legitimately give him credit for bringing talent back to the team, bringing them back into the national conversation at least tangentially, and getting more media coverage of the team as well (Daz is not only a good recruiter but has lots of contacts at ESPN and is a good media presence - if/when he is fired from BC I almost guarantee he will end up on ESPN at least temporarily).Daz has proven several times over that a team he coaches will never, ever win a game like that, because he won't give them a chance to. I mean, punting down 20 points from just inside Clemson territory in the fourth quarter is a fireable offense on its own, but in the context of last night's game, it was just the cherry on top of a shit sundae.
Watching the moment slowly but surely become too big for Daz every single week is a tireless exercise. The fact that he is a pretty good recruiter and motivator makes this all the more painful. But Jarmond must be seeing this too, and I can only hope that complete embarrassment by the coaching staff last night on their biggest stage to date is the last straw. It's well past time to try something else.
Yeah, umm, about that.Defense has looked good . . .except against the long pass. Go for it.
Decent try there for the offsides
