The ball is dead in college in the endzone.
Eh, okay.  In that case I blame the ref who was standing right there not blowing his whistle.

Move on. You are wrong It is ok, You will be wrong again. Name one sport where an undefeated team is denied a shot at the championship. If you can't you should move along.
Ironically college football, namely 1994 Penn State and 2004 Auburn. However, the playoffs will most certainly prevent that from happening again.

So FSU is good because they cough up "soft as shit" fumbles and drop passes? Uh ok?

No, they are good because they went undefeated for two consecutive seasons.

0% chance. 1am. Ouch.

Well I'm off tomorrow regardless. Gonna have another Southern Tier Unearthly and a shot of Fireball. And I don't care what anyone says, Fireball is delicious and I'm 31.

Well it's New Year's Day and I've been drinking for how many hours so I'm gonna say yes.

Just having a little fun. I get why FSU was there and like I said upthread the committee had no choice. It is just slightly frustrating since a lot of folks had a feeling they would get destroyed.

A lot of folks felt ND would get murdered by Alabama two years ago, too. And they did. They still made the game b/c the record got them there. If you win all your games, which is a perfect result, metrics are thrown out the window.

I'm glad I'm my own boss because there is a 0% chance I am waking up at 5:50am tomorrow for work. Still, I hate showing up to the office later than 7:30am. At least it's a Friday.

Do you have patients scheduled? As long as you take care of them you are good IMO.

Is that like the old Fire and Ice liquors that were popular in the 90's? I don't drink anymore but I loved that crap back in the day.

Jones is hard to tackle. I hope that holds for the rest of the game.

Right, which is why they need a playoff that doesn't exclude deserving teams. I think everyone agrees that means a minimum of 6 teams and probably not more than 8.

Vaunted SEC defenses. The other conferences just don't have the athletes to compete with an SEC team.

Honestly never tried that stuff. It tastes just like those atomic fireball candies. You have no idea you're drinking whisky. And I always loved those cinnamon candies growing up.

Right, which is why I think it's insane how close it came to happening again this year, and how many people are genuinely upset that a 13-0 defending champ from a major conference made a four-team playoff. It's lunacy.

Understood, he's clearly suffered enough.

That said, your scenario is a perfect example of why people shouldn't trash talk; don't do it if you can't man up afterward.

That wasn't the question. Name a time where the 9th ranked team deserved the championship. Otherwise you agree.
As soon as an 8 seed wins the tournament - and it will happen - every 9th best team until the end of time will have a very legitimate beef.

This is a weak response. The inability to entirely fix it is no justification not to mitigate it, and mitigating it wouldn't be brain surgery.
Mitigation works right up until it's your team that gets mitigated out of the tournament. It's a fool's errand.

And there's the rub; as others have said, no matter what you do, someone will bitch.

I'm just glad the NCAA came out of the stone age and finally have a playoff format in place, it's about time.
