Does he really provide anything more than what some of the kids will be able to provide? Dude makes $4M+.

No thanks.

I'm with you. I think I'd rather have Griffith. At least he shows he has solid hockey IQ, Stewart has been awful going on 2+ years now, and with that cap hit? No thanks. I'd be pretty disappointed if this was Chiarelli's move to get a forward.

The only way this makes sense is if you're giving up a lower level prospect and Buffalo is covering the majority of his salary. He'd be great to have on the 4th line at under $2m. But I don't see that happening

Chris Stewart isn't very good, but I am not sure they'll do much better. The Bruins have little cap space to maneuver and have a very specific need- a right shot, top 6 winger. There aren't a whole lot of those available. Stewart has an expiring deal and the Sabres have cap space to burn so they can retain some of Stewart's salary to facilitate a deal. I'd be interested in shipping some sort of conditional pick to Buffalo for Stewart. I'm not sure Griffith or Gagne are long-term solutions to the first line problem.

I gotta be honest, I don't really see an issue with the offense.
Yeah, I would agree. My only gripe about the offense right now is they're a bit reliant on the PP, but the even strength possession numbers are all strong (4th in the league in Fenwick %and 5th in Corsi%) so they're due for sone more pucks to go in. They can survive for now with Griffith, Gagne and perhaps Pastrnak. I would put their resources towards a top 4 defensemen and wait until the deadline to figure out if a right winger is needed.

Edit: just to clarify-I shouldn't say they're due to have more pucks go in. That's not true. It's more that if they continue at the current pace they'll be a very good 5x5 team again and they'll score a lot more than they'll give up. The current problem at ES (0 goal differential) is mostly due to a poor save percentage (.915).

Who'd have thought 2-3 years ago that you could type this?
