Jerebko is a (very) poor man's Sully or KO, and 2/10 seems too steep for a 10th/11th man. Seems like Jerebko is here to back-fill one of those roles in case Danny gets an offer he likes.

Yeah. I see him as slightly more duplicative of KO than Sully - who can body/effort rebounds. Combined with Johnson (who sort of dupes Bass as undersized 5), this makes me think (hope) Olynyk is not in green next year.

This market is crazy. Kyle Singler got 5/25, I'd say Jerebko is a better player than him, probably by a good amount.

It's the new normal - not at all crazy for a depth rotation guy. Ainge has been ahead of the curve in adapting to market pressures. AB's deal was condemned for its size, but it's entirely reasonable in the context of next year's cap universe.

Yeah sorry I meant crazy in the sense that even scrubs are worth way more than they used to get, not that GMs were making bad deals.

Oof. Lets not go crazy here.

Disagreement about Bradley aside (I think that's still a bad contract), I agree that both Jerebko and Amir look like nice values.

The Cs are now just two megastars away!

Heh. I did say "in the context of next year's cap universe". When you have a 100M to play with, 7.5M for a guy of his skill is reasonable... Hence the new normal. This year, it's sort of on the high side but nobody who doesn't need to is even paying much attention to this year's cap. It's a one-year inconvenience at this point for most GMs.

I should have been clearer about what I said -- I think 2/10 is an underpay for Jerebko talent-wise, but an overpay in terms of his likely role on the team if there isn't a significant trade on the horizon.

They may seem so on the surface however when the cap skyrockets next summer these players are going to immediately go from overpaid to team bargains for the remainder of their deal (assuming they perform to expectations).

Do we have a team option on Jerebko's deal as well as Amir's?

That Singler deal was comical, but Jerebko's deal is very team-friendly.  The 2nd non-guaranteed year next season will make him a nice asset to move if Ainge wants to do so, as a team can use it as a way to free up cap space.
