Is there a line for LSU Grambling yet?

That has to be the 2nd best line (for LSU) to play for the weekend, after PHI EAGLES

Those are the old rankings right? When does the new poll come out? Duke is probably going to be top 25 after a 9 win season last week + beating Clemson

The polls will come out today.

Not sure Duke makes that big of a leap. They were 41st in the AP Preseason poll and 56 in the coache's poll. Only 3 AP ranked teams lost. There's a lot of volatility early on but that'd be a big jump.

I dont see how you can blow out a “top 10” team in prime time after being ranked the previous year and not end up in the top 25. But I have no handle on the mechanics of college football polling so if they are not top 25 your post will help me understand that.

It's just hard to really get a handle on teams this early. Just as an example, Clemson played a real opponent and lost. Oklahoma played Arkansas State and won 73-0. I don't know how you can really compare them side by side and decide who is better after 1 game.

Specific to the Duke situation, it probably comes down to what voters think of Clemson. Do they think that Clemson is a legitimate top 10 team ore more in the 20-40 range, thus devaluing the win for Duke? FWIW, I looked at last year and Florida made the biggest week 1 leap from 38 to 12 after beating #7 Utah in their opener, so maybe I'm wrong.

I have a question, this may have been discussed, is Deion the best NFL player to have a win over a ranked opponent as head coach? There are not many NFL players better than he was so it’s a small pool. Did any coach college ball at a high level

Did any (nfl halll of famers as players) head coach at all at college?

Berry only briefly coached WR at Arkansas

Ditka went immediately from player to NFL coaching (assistant first)

Can’t really think of others who coached at all

Jim Harbaugh was a pretty good NFL QB, but Prime Time is in the HoF and Harbaugh isn’t

Here's the 100th Anniversary All Time Team:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_100th_Anniversary_All-Time_Team

A number of guys like Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham, Forrest Gregg, etc coached college but never beat a ranked team.

Jack Christiansen coached Stanford for five seasons and beat a number of ranked teams, including #9 USC in 1975.

I don't think he was better than Deion and he was not a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Really wish U Miami had a stadium in Coral Gables, to get more students into the crowd, but there's no barren land and not on the beach anyway (for pregame, GameDay eventually etc.)

AX watch schedule of the day
12-3:30 Wolfpack v. SBCC, checking in on score for Mass Cath
3:30-7:00 Aggy Canes and Corn Bowl
5:15-8:30 Heels Apps
7-10:30 Horns Bama
10:30-1AM Stanford Southern Cal

This one's fun! Great ask, ditto Skrub's thoughts.

It's imperfect, but ProFootballRef's AV puts Sanders at 163 AV, or Approximate Value. That's tied for 37th all-time with Fouts, Moon, Otto, and Woodson. No other player at that AV or higher has any collegiate coaching (or NFL) wins. So by this metric, absolutely. By extension, according to AV, he's also the best to have any head coaching win, as well.

Forrest Gregg was an 8-time first team All-Pro and coached the Bengals to Super Bowl XVI. He’s the only guy in the conversation with Deion.

(Gregg’s college coaching career consisted of two seasons at SMU immediately following the NCAA-imposed “death penalty.”)

Nebraska’s offense isn’t terribly dynamic. Get a lead, and let Sims start putting it up for grabs.

It’s really astounding what JMU has been able to do in the move up from FCS
