Sorry, forgot it was the Canadian police we were talking about.

They politely choked Subban to death.

Sadly I'm late and all my police/Montreal/Max Pac jokes were taken.

I know you're joking, but if you pull the goalie in OT and give up a goal you don't get any points.

I'd completely forgotten about that, but isn't that kind of crap?

I wonder what would happen if team put one in it's own net on a delayed penalty with the goalie pulled. It happens (I've seen it live - ah the glory of the Whale) and I'd think it might even be a bit more likely to happen since playing 4-on-4 there's a slightly greater chance for an errant pass.

You aren't required to pull the goalie, so presumably you would lose the point.
I want it to happen, just to see the reaction to not only a crappy way to lose a game but the added insult of losing the loser point. Maybe in Toronto.

Not Lynn (or Ocean Side)
When I watch the Giroux line, I can only imagine the damage it could do if he and Voracek had a really good LW. Too bad the organization hasn't been fortunate enough to draft and develop one.

Eh, if they did they'd probably trade him away for a slow, turnover-prone, overpaid sixth defenseman, straight up.

Tonight's game was kind of a perfect snapshot of Dustin Byfuglien's career. Guy scored a pretty nice goal (yea, the Flyers didn't exactly put up much resistance), played physical on Claude Giroux all night, and generally looked like the complete package. Then in OT he gets rubbed off the puck by Giroux and Voracek scores the game winner. Also Vinny Lecavalier scored twice, which is pretty amazing.

I see what you did there.

I wasn't a huge JvR fan and I don't necessarily have a problem with them wanting to move on from him. But they sold low on him which was a mistake, and the guy they bought low on obviously hasn't given them value the way JvR has the Leafs. A little like Arroyo for WMP, you could see what they were trying to do, but it just didn't work out.

Corpse of Vinny Lecavalier, please.

I'm with you. Could only fit so much realism into a sarcastic post. Just sold way too low.

That whole line looked decent last night actually. Bellemare in particular seems like he knows what to do.

Schenn (the one who actually has some hockey skill) has come along this year, too. In fact they have a great set of forwards even without JVR, many of them still developing (tell me you haven't been impressed by Laughton). It's the utterly mediocre defense that makes me often unable to watch, and I've made the bad Schenn the poster child for that crew, unfairly, because he was the short side of an unbalanced trade. I end up projecting high on Gostisbehere, Morin, Hagg, and Sanheim, which I know is risky, wishful thinking.

The latest trend of scratching Del Zotto in favor of Schenn has made me wonder if Chief knows what he's doing.

Between here and everywhere.
I can't find a video online of it - but John Scott needs to be suspended for a long, long time.

In the SJS/ANA game, at the end of the play he cold cocks Jackman in the face for absolutely no reason, knocking him out standing. The referee was staring right at it and didn't assess a penalty.

I have no idea how he's still allowed to play in the NHL.

Wow.  I'm not entirely sure that was him attempting to injure, but even at the least it's extraordinarily sloppy and dangerous.

This guy has no business being in the NHL.

I'm not sure I agree regarding intent to injure. He sees Jackman coming, and deliberately swings his elbow/fist at his face. He's looking at him as his fist and butt end of the stick smash Jackman in the face.

Just ban him for life. He has no business being in the NHL.

Maybe it was the slow motion aspect. But it seemed that he lost balance a little, saw someone coming out of the corner of his eye and swung around - stick up high - to either hit or defend himself.

That's what I mean. It was somewhere between dangerous/reckless and intent to injure.

Regardless, boot him. Forever. He gets zero benefit of the doubt.

Or they prefer more hybrid guys that can fight and play a bit like a Dorsett or a Prust.  But hey, let's keep pushing that agenda.

I honestly can't tell if that was intentional or not. Kinda reminds me of the Matt Cooke stepping on Karlsson thing where you're thinking "maybe he didn't mean that" til you see the name on the back of the jersey.

Oh I'm very impressed by Laughton. Giroux-Laughton-Couturier down the middle looks like it could be something they can really build around.

They're supposedly sitting MDZ because he's too aggressive and takes too many chances offensively. Personally I'd play him ahead of Schenn, and he's probably been better than Grossmann and MacD as well. I'd probably dress Colaiacovo ahead of Schenn though, so maybe I'm slightly irrational.

What agenda? That guys like Scott who can only fight shouldn't have roster spots? Nowhere did I say that I didn't want fighting at all.

Another day another blown 3rd period lead into a shootout loss for NJD

Tank harder and start losing in regulation, please

Flyers win again, get goals from all 4 lines (Vinny scored again), and 2 points apiece from Voracek and Giroux. They're now 1-2 in league scoring (G is tied with Seguin).

I actually really like Zac Rinaldo, he's really cut down on the dumbassery and played a nice energy game for awhile now. But the way Vandevelde-Lecavalier-Bellemare have looked with Zac out I'm not sure how you sit one of them to get Rinaldo back in. Could bench Umberger for him I suppose.

Yeah, they may as well go all out for one of the two bottom spots.  Watch Lou draft a defenseman with one of the top two picks, though.

I'm not sure if you can really say a guy is the best until you see him compete for a championship and either rise to it like Quick or crap himself like Luongo, but I'm not sure there's a goalie in the league I'd definitely take over Pekka Rinne. And between being a goalie and playing in Nashville the guy gets pretty much no attention.
