I have seen enough on defense.

Serious question — why do “analysts” and talking heads talk about the Steeler defense as if Lambert, Greene, Ham and Blount are still playing?

Why? Laziness? Cheap hype?
Part of it is that by 'total defense' kinds of yardage-based stats they are a top-5 defense.

Brand reputation.

EDIT - They do have talent but they don't play up to their rep.

The Pittsburgh metro area is having a big flooding issue because of ice jams. Lots of roads blocked or impassable.
Wow, that would suck if you paid a lot of money for tickets. Then you turn on the radio and decide, perhaps not.

The first quarter of the season they played well at least statistically, so that's been the narrative since then.

And relying on simple stats. They gave up the 5th fewest yards in the NFL this season, after Minnesota, Jax, Denver, and Philly.

I will give Pittsburgh this — they harvest wide receivers like George Clooney pulls down young hot pussy, or used to anyway.

There is no crapshoot element to it at all. They know what they are doing.

For the record, the Pats have pretty good records against one-dimensional offenses. You don't get bad teams in the AFCCG, but I'll still take facing Blake Bortles at home for a ticket to the Superbowl.

Was that OPI? How often is it called?

Amazing catch but if that's Gronk they call OPI right?

That was an extraordinary catch by AB--crazy good!

About Pittsburgh's vaunted rep for its not-so-great D: why do we keep hearing about the loss of Shazier versus the lack of attention paid to the Pats losing Hightower?

Obviously, the horrific nature of Shazier's injury is more newsworthy itself--but the comparative focus on the respective defensive units each losing their best player is telling.

I think it goes to the heart of the success BB and his staff have enjoyed with the "Next Man Up" philosophy--it's more than just a slogan and a vain hope--compared with Pitt's almost routine failure to make in-game adjustments or those related to losses of key personnel.
