Southgate waiting until the 118th minute to bring Sancho and Rashford on is *chefs kiss*

In the end when watching again I think yellow is probably the right call. It does look like Jorginho mostly tries to take weight off that foot and Grealish probably has to bear some responsibility for sliding early into a 50/50

California. Duh.
Messi winning a trophy with Argentina and England winning one on penalties in the same weekend would be a pretty crazy story.

Italy's tournament record (World Cup + Euros) in penalty shootouts is 4 wins and 6 losses, FWIW.
Italy played more for the win than England. And England had bullets in the chambers in the form of subs + home field advantage.

Usually when this happens, at least one team was playing for PKs, but I’m not sure either team wanted this.

Pickford is a good penalty stopper. I don't think he'll be a problem for England.

Again, just getting the ball first doesn't absolve you when making a reckless tackle. There was already a red in the tournament where the studs-to-torso contact came on the follow through after player in question got to the ball first.
Getting studs on top of ball is a pretty common control move. Helps to knock it down and get it at your feet. Graelish didnt have control. Calling it a reckless challenge worthy of red is extreme. He was not going in studs up to attack Graelish.
A yellow is extremely fair given the result

My son and I have been debating Rashford all tournament. I think he should be getting regular minutes; my son says Rashford is a terrific human being but an overrated player, and doesn’t deserve minutes on this stacked team.

Displaced
I’ve got Jordan Henderson with the winner.
Prove me wrong, football gods.

edit: unless, of course, he goes in the first 1-3

It's sort of in between. Rashford probably doesn't deserve to be starting but he should have gotten more minutes as a sub. Southgate's refusal to make timely substitutions really hurt him.

England strangely have insane depth at winger. I was talking about this with a friend last night but England legitimately have 4 or 5 wingers who would have started for Brazil yesterday. I’m not sure that Rashford could play much with the form Sterling and Grealish were on
