It's hilarious the commentators are talking like it's over. It's been all of 20 minutes since Croatia came back from 2 down.
I wonder how big of a role the large number of substitutions play. I would expect that with so much infusion of fresh legs, teams would maintain.their shape, but I am now thinking that having half of the team on fresh legs and half of a team in tired legs, the play becomes more open.
I think, given how much energy it takes to come back from two down, that they're thinking it's more likely that Spain gets another than that Croatia is able to get two more again.
I saw the same thing. Watching on an alternate feed -- did they show the line on the replay? I went backwards to see the replay and it looked off there as well.
I still maintain my initial take though. Spain is a dark horse to win all, the Croats are a bit over the hill.
Well, it took them 30 seconds to nearly get one.
Spain hasn't been able to lock this down. If Croatia get one, the nerves will tighten again.
It was almost like once the own goal took them out of tiki taka they were free and had moments of brilliance. But their defense really suffered too.
I'm not watching the match, but it's a hoot having it on the FC app in the background. Croatia sound done, but who knows with this match.
In Euro 2000 Spain came from behind to beat Yugoslavia 4-3 in a do or die match. Their next opponent in the quarters? France. They lost 2-1.
CRO done -- bodies won't do what their brains are asking. What an amazing effort that was though.
I get why Kante is shuttling outside to the left in possession, but I don't think I'd do the same if I were Deschamps. Too early to take off one of the CBs though and shift to 4 ATB
