Figured they needed their own thread.

Anyone having any issues today? I'm getting under 1mb download speed (upload seems to be unaffected), and their help is useless beyond "we'll schedule a technician and it will be resolved in 12-24 hours).

I'm in Lynn, and someone in Salem is reporting the same issue:

We only have Comcast for the web and I've had literally eight tech visits in the past 13 months. My street does not go a full week without a multi-hour outage ever. I HATE them. I also HATE Verizon so there you have it.

I've had no issues with Comcast for the 6 months I've had them until today.

There clearly is an issue somewhere, but they just don't seem to have any records of it.

I had RCN for 7 years, and would go back to them in a heartbeat if they came to the Northshore

RCN myself through multiple addresses in past 5 years, and one problem which ended up being that a rat had eaten through a cable in my building's shared basement.

At least they let you post in their support forum. They banned me from it, and I have no earthly reason why. Nor could I find a human being at Comcast who could tell me why this is the case. I never posted there, so it wasn't like I let loose an expletive filled rant about the problems with their customer service.

They have a stranglehold on cable/internet service where I live, so I'm forced to subscribe.

FWIW, I'm on Cape Ann, and my download speed is registering at 29 mbps

I have had several small issues on and off the last few days.  Internet just flat out stopped working, had to reboot the router.  A few other slowdowns.  A few times the STB was acting glitchy.
According to twitter there was a major TV outage in teh Mid-atlantic last week.

Comcast, like TW , you are always at the mercy of whatever physical plant they inherited when the bought out/absorbed whoever originally built your local system. Neither ever rebuilds comprehensively until/unless the existing infrastructure is on it's last legs or you are one of the few lucky locations to be blessed with fibre. They just keep patching the local drops (generally your issue), raising rates and reporting record earnings.
