Yes, there are certain things they actually seem to believe...but they are just wrong. Felger was adamant that he was right that Curry is overrated, Durant shrinks in the big games and that Klay Thompson is actually the best player on the team.My patience is pretty much non-existent with this show now and I find myself turning it off after 5 or 10 minutes rather than listening to it for my entire commute.
It's the same narrative over and over again with a useless Jim Murray that brings absolutely nothing to the show and is basically playing the stereotype of the miserable Boston Sports Fan from back in pre 2001 when all the teams did was suck (mid 80's Celtics being the exception).
The Lebron conversation was decent yesterday and I enjoyed their different takes. Why? They sounded like legitimate beliefs and weren't forced, I can see why Felger thinks Lebron has changed and would be a good fit for the Celtics for the same reason I can see why Mazz wouldn't want him.
Other than that... Yawn. The Sox aren't that great and the Patriots could implode, which both might ultimately prove to be true but there's no need to hammer it into our heads every single day.
He pre-emptively shot down this argument on Monday. (perhaps during Felger and Mazz and not during the baseball reporters)Here's the thing that he's missing, yes, the Red Sox lost two of four to the Astros, BUT the Astros lost two of four to the Red Sox. At home. Without the Red Sox' best player. And they pitched two of their studs. And the first Red Sox loss was by a run, the second loss was a game that got away from them in the eighth. It wasn't like the Sox came in and shit the bed. And I may be an optimistic Red Sox fan, but I'm not an apologist. For an early June series against one of the best teams in the league, at their park, the Red Sox did fine.
He's such a dipshit. The Astros had their four best pitchers going in the series, I'm quite sure that they were taking it "seriously" enough. They had McCullers, Cole, Verlander and Morton going Thursday through Sunday, so Mazz doesn't have a leg to stand on that the Astros were punting this series away for some reason. And aside from their starters, I think that pretty much every healthy Astro, who is a starter, was playing in all four games. He pre-emptively shot down this argument on Monday. (perhaps during Felger and Mazz and not during the baseball reporters)
His answer to that?
The series wasn't nearly as important to Houston as it was to Boston so it doesn't matter that they lost 2 of 4, because they weren't taking a June series against Boston seriously. Yes, somehow that reflects positively on Houston, in Mazz's head at least
This is the truth. Even the rabid dog part.Tony Mazz is a lazy piece of shit who's horrible at his job. He does no prep and watches very little of the sports he allegedly "covers". His take on anything, absolutely anything, is utterly fucking worthless. My mother is a better resource on Boston sports.
I hope he gets mounted by a rabid dog.
Yeah, the Astros must not have cared that the Mariners were nipping at their heels (and ended up passing them in the standings when the Sox won two). Nbd though. He pre-emptively shot down this argument on Monday. (perhaps during Felger and Mazz and not during the baseball reporters)

I’m right there with you. Mazz is insufferable.I find myself turning it off after 5 or 10 minutes rather than listening to it for my entire commute.
He was on that yesterday too. It is exactly as stupid as the take that BB intentionally threw the SuperBowl by sitting Butler as a message to Kraft/Brady/WhomeverI just turned it on for one minute. Murray is saying that BB called the league office and ratted out Edelman in order to delegitimize TB12 clinics. Click.
Murray was on FNX? Really? I had no idea. I thought Hardy was the only one with a rock station background (aside from T&R).He was on that yesterday too. It is exactly as stupid as the take that BB intentionally threw the SuperBowl by sitting Butler as a message to Kraft/Brady/Whomever
I really liked Murray when he was the afternoon guy on WFNX - he just sucks at sports talk radio.
Murray is not as awful on the weekend. He’s just playing a character like Kirk during the week. He’s not good but he’s tolerable. He was on that yesterday too. It is exactly as stupid as the take that BB intentionally threw the SuperBowl by sitting Butler as a message to Kraft/Brady/Whomever

Gasped and Beetle was a great show. It’s unfortunate that Gasper doesn’t have enough hot takeZ or controversy for a weekday show.Second this, Gasper shines some light on the weekend program with Murray.
It’s been right there in front of me this whole time yet I have t been able to put my finger on it. Thank you!Jimmy Stewart sounds like tina from bob burgers
whats every team to lose
Yep... same. Once I heard that I didn't need to listen any longer because ... it's just dumb. Could I see BB doing that? Maybe not BB but one of his people (kids). Still doesn't make for radio I want to listen to for longer than a minute. He was on that yesterday too. What you can take out of these games is that the Red Sox have 54 victories in 81 games.Felger questions if JD Martinez can keep this up. "JD Martinez has had great half seasons before." All hosts crap on the bullpen because of last night(which is justified).
They go on to say how great their record can be but they don't mean anything because their bullpen sucks. Murray: "What can you really take out of these games?" Felger: "What do these games really mean?"
Right but then if you ignore the first 19 games it’s really not that impressive! Honestly this team has been in decline since 20 games into the season Mike! Don’t get me started on the tomato cans they beat up on!What you can take out of these games is that the Red Sox have 54 victories in 81 games.
It's a pretty fucking simple observation, actually.
Totally.Right but then if you ignore the first 19 games it’s really not that impressive! Honestly this team has been in decline since 20 games into the season Mike! Don’t get me started on the tomato cans they beat up on!
Sabermetrics have ruined the game. What you can take out of these games is that the Red Sox have 54 victories in 81 games.

He's actually decent on the weekends with Chris Gasper. Not particularly good, but not total crap. Gasper brings out what limited ability he has, and they have ok chemistry.A quick comment on listening to Big Jim Murray this morning with Sean Slytherin - stop it. Just stop this hyper-miserable persona you’ve wrapped yourself up in. It is so not entertaining nor endearing. It is such uncomfortable radio. Don’t treat your job as your therapy noone wants to hear it.
I can't believe F&M did a 14.7. I used to listen a lot and haven't in 6 months because it's awful and just trolling, but apparently that works. (See K&C) I love Keefe, hope they start doing better or that show is destined for changes if they are that far behind. In afternoon drive (2-6 p.m.), the Sports Hub’s “Felger and Massarotti” remained the highest-rated program in the market, finishing first with 14.7 share. WEEI’s “Dale and Keefe” program was second (6.8, 0.9 for WVEI).
I was on the way back from Maine last night and heard that rant from Jones and it was bad. Jones is a troll in the worst way and he isn’t nearly as good as Felger at his job. I rarely listen to Jones but did cause I like archand. Hopefully he’ll start calling out Jones more.Speaking of trolling, after my soccer game last night, I listened to the Adam Jones show for the first time in awhile. The Sox had just won, Sale had an amazing performance, the team has won nine in a row and are sitting at the top of MLB with a 65-29 record. What does Jones say, "I don't trust these guys! I just don't! And what's going to happen in October? Huh? What then?"
I get it. I really do. Negativity sells. You need to stir up the fellowship of the miserable to get calls. A nightly Chris Farley Show about the 2018 Boston Red Sox wouldn't be great. I understand that. But, I mean the Boston Red Sox, right now, are pretty fucking good. Arguing that they're not, or trying to bring up the boogey man of October 2018 is ridiculous.
It makes me think that Jones doesn't understand sports at all or he's being completely disingenuous. At least Felger (used to) be able to say these things with a wink. Like he knew it was bullshit, but that's his job to poke the bear a little bit. And Felger (used to) be able to understand that if you compliment a team when they deserve it, it makes pointing out flaws when the teams deserve it easier to swallow.
All I know is that I'm glad I don't have to listen to Adam Jones on a regular basis. I actually switched it back to EEI and listened to commercials for the rest of my ride home.
The problem is they move the goalposts every time.I was on the way back from Maine last night and heard that rant from Jones and it was bad. In April it was, "These guys aren't for real. Every team starts out hot, let's see where they are in June!"
June comes, the Sox are still kicking ass. "Well, it's just because they haven't hit the dog days yet. Let's see what happens in July and August!"
If the Sox pass all of these tests and October comes around and they win the World Series the conversation turns into, "Well, yeah, they won this year. Who cares? Let's see what they do in December when it's the Winter Meetings or next year when a whole bunch of guys become free agents. Then you'll see!"
I don't know, man. I don't understand how you could work so hard to be something that you've dreamed about (talking sports for a living!) and just be so constantly and consistently negative. I wonder how what fucked you up?
Yikes, I have to believe at least one of the hosts is in jeopardy. That's down 32% from the same period last year. In fairness, the Hub is down 10% in that time slot, but 14.7 is still a massive number.https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2018/07/12/the-sports-hub-remains-top-rated-radio-station-boston/C2A3D8On54FMKDfMgiSN5L/story.html?event=event25
