1. Mac, who has learned nothing from his struggles. He's being sacked, so he heaves the ball with both hands and is lucky it is not picked. Surprisingly gifted a late game chance to win, Mac has a receiver open in the end zone but he short-arms the throw which does not reach the end zone before being picked.

2. Special teams. BB's asinine "let's put nobody back to return the punt" play. Ryland key missed FG.

3. 3rd down pass protection.

(Yes I posted this at the 2 minute warning. Happy to eat all the crow if Zappe brings them back).

Edit: Zappe did a great Mac impression on the game ending pick.

defense gave them every shot, even the last fg was mainly the result of special teams. bummer. Offense obv isn't professional caliber.

No Goats, we are officially Pray for Maye

You could leave the entire team save a couple defensive players and I guess Pop & Rham in Germany, including all the coaches.
Blow this up and start fresh.

Mac, Mac and offensive Jones.

With mediocre QB play, the Pats win by multiple scores

Good news is they are still on track for top 5 pick

Defense held the Colts to 10 points. Which is good enough to win most all NFL games.

Except those started by Mac Jones and ended with Bailey Zappe.

Not sure why I decided to rewatch that last Mac interception, but he absolutely has Gesicki open on that play. He just threw it off his back foot and left it about 5 yards (!) short of where it needed to be.

Just a horrendous throw at the worst possible time.

So frustrating to see the team have a huge day running the ball (36-167, 4.6 y/a) and the D play great only to have Mac completely cough it up.

A missed FG or a screwup on special teams isn't enough to be mentioned. Mac is the reason they lost this game, Mac is the reason they are 2-8, and Mac is the reason they will be tearing down the entire organization in the offseason and rebuild from the cinders.

It's all Mac.

Other than the obvious, honorable mention to Ryland. In the context of the game that was a big miss.

I thought the pass to Rham last week was one of the worst I've seen in years and Mac was like "hold my stein". Gesicki is wide open on the play and the pressure is minimal on Mac, could have easily stepped into the throw absolutely no reason to throw that off the back foot.

Absolutely. I think he's going to be just fine as an NFL kicker and he's on a rookie contract so that's fine, whatever. But in this game, it was a huge miss. He makes that and then the Pats just need a FG in either of their last two possessions to win the game. But nope.

Mac's footwork is among the worst I've seen in any QB. He always throws it off his back foot. He never plants. I do not understand this. That's bad even if you're a good quarterback.

Yeah this one was one of the worst I've ever seen, especially considering the circumstances.

He saw a rusher getting free right in his face as he started to throw. The rusher wasn't going to get there, but that's what screwed him up.

It's inexcusable and I don't understand how this can still be happening.

Mac is like the first ten on this list. But the next two would be the passing block on third down and then special teams. Missed a really easy FG and the punt return was something else.

He saw ghosts is what he saw. There was a rusher 2-3yds away but being somewhat blocked up, I agree that is what he thought he saw but it simply wasn't reality. I've watched the replay at least a dozen times now. That is as clean a pocket as a QB should expect in the redzone. At worst you hang in the pocket and don't step into the throw, throwing off the back foot is inexcusable there. The ball should be 5yds deep in the endzone and the Sons of MIke Vanderjagt are wondering how they blew coverage so badly on Mike Gesicki, Gesicki was somehow 5yds passed the closest defender. That was the second most amazing part of that play.

Mac Jones was asked why the Patriots didn't go with a Hail Mary before halftime. He seemed to disagree with the call to throw short/quick. "No clue. I mean. There's 2 seconds left and it was ... we needed 60 yards. So I don't know."

You know that Duke QB whose mom texts him “you suck” before every game?

She should text Mac instead.

I’ve honestly thought him being a jerk, or a locker room problem has been something of an overblown narrative. But Jesus, shut the fuck up with your second guessing play calls. You suck, can’t consistently make professional throws, and are the biggest weakness on the offense. Just shut up.

That one, the one Zappe threw into a Colts team meeting, and the one Mac was 5 yards short on that got picked.

3 of the worst throws that I’ve seen all in one game.

It's shocking how much of a frontrunner he is. He's never faced any adversity until the NFL and once he gets it he completely implodes. He's an awful teammate. Gives off snotty high school tennis player vibes.

That throw artificially bumped his stats and made his shit game look less so. Also, I'd bet my house he wouldn't have been able to get a throw to the end zone.

Agree 100%. I’ve thought the personal hate folks have tossed his way has been over the top. I think I’ve been wrong. He’s an ass.

Some day we’re going to need a separate thread on what this HS tennis player did to you.

Couple possible explanations.

1. Mac and Zappe are in the pocket of gangsters.
2. Players want to be released immediately.

I love the Patriots. But this game might have broken me.

I’ve been of the opinion Mac is a problem, but not the only problem, but not really the case here as he was flat out awful. Goats number one, two, and three go to Mac today with dishonorable mentions for JuJu and Ryland.

I watched part of Eight Men Out the other day, and no Black Sox player made as bad a throw as Mac did on his final throw of the day. When he short-armed what looked like an easy game-winning TD throw, it looked exactly like it would if he were trying to throw the game.

Zappe was bad, but that's what happens when a guy with no reps gets thrown into a game with that little time left and no TOs.

Yeah, that INT on the goal line with two guys wide open in the back of the end zone looked very Paul Crewe like to me.

That's the only explanation I can come up with.
