Uh… So…. I think it was smart to DD to lock up Price before this happened…… Otherwise its LAD/SF/STL VS BOS

Could you see Grienke in Boston? I couldn't.

Assuming it's 180, this market is insane.

I wonder what the hell the Dodgers could be thinking.
Same thing many on SOSH are. Look at how much better the Dodgers are now that they got the best years from ZG and can now move on without all those years on the back end of the original contact.

Dodgers front office is probably drinking champagne right now.

Could this legitimately shift the power of the division?

Greinke, Bradley, Corbin

32.5M AAV. Heyman says Dodgers went up to 5/155.

Cueto rejected 6/120 from ARZ but wonder if he'd be fine with that from Dodgers, or is waiting for a bidding war.

Why would he be fine with that from the Dodgers?
He should be in a great position, with LA/SF/StL all potentially bidding for his services.

Sure looks like he should be able to get at least another 20M or so from the Dodgers. The 12% income tax in CA isn't going to pay itself, you know.

Man...billy Beane has to be rubbing one out thinking what he can get for Gray. He has to trade him, right?

Kind of weird how these signings are kind of just happening so quickly and quietly, especially after last offseason (the entire Lester drama, 14 year olds, etc). I can't remember the last time two such in demand players fell off the board so quickly without a bidding war, or at least "you can never count out the Yankees".

He can't be a FA until 2020. Unless someone is going to offer something like Betts, Bogaerts and Owens for him (which would be insane), there's no way he gets dealt.

How? They were 4 games under .500.

And maybe now the D-Backs will stop throwing at Greinke's head. Maybe.
Better pitching, the Dodgers and Rockies will be worse, and their quality youngsters will be a year older. DBacks scored the second-most runs in the NL last year - they were a couple of pitchers away.

No Scott Boras clients among the elite FA's this year.

This is a funny little turn around from hearing the Dodgers/Giants were about to sign him. I'll be honest, was not expecting the DBacks to sweep in and blow him away.

Yeah, 6/206 per WWL scroll
That is absolutely ridiculous money for a 32 year old pitcher. Very glad that the Red Sox ended up with Price instead. Don't think you can blame the Dodger's for passing on that deal. Cueto is going to end up getting paid far more than anyone imagined.

Good to know that the Sox envisioned something like this

Speier on Cueto: "every mention of him to Red Sox officials elicits disbelief at how much money he’ll make." http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/11/23/free-agency-likely-avenue-for-red-sox-address-rotation/Yvtzs8dCZ5oaGOntc5KnGK/story.html…

Did you really "YUP" your own post about being smart?

This is technically worse than giving yourself a nickname, Headline Master.

No. I just think that DD saw this coming (which is why it was reported that he set a deadline for price and Greinke to respond to their contract proposal. Had Price waited just a few days longer the Dodgers and Giants would be getting into a bidding war for price vs the Sox. So David Price's contract would be even higher than what he signed for earlier this week.
