This is Pulitzer Level work sir. Thank you!"We"
Hell, yeah, it was always we. But, guys, don't undersell hayward's post... this is, like, not just, "we," it's an exploration of what "we" means for him--and what it all means for the Celtics, and us.
Like, keep in mind who he is, and who he has been, and how he might have come to the team.
And then consider the "we."
[The rest snipped for brevity]
Hope somebody wakes him up by 3:30.This is Pulitzer Level work sir. Thank you!
Mate, Hayward is a lot of things, cool is definitely not one of the words I'd use to describe him. He has the charisma of a parking attendant.Hayward's cool too.
I was just looking at some hayward highlight clips, getting excited for how he will fit in next year, and I was shocked by how often he runs the same alley-opp play that he got injured on. I wonder if that will still be a part of his game next year.
Also, he is going to fit in really well....
I'm wondering if Brad could win 40 games with a first 7 of Theis, Ojeleye, Morris, Rozier, and Larkin, with Bird, Yabu and Nader coming off the bench.Imagine the spacing next year. As Lowe said on his podcast yesterday with Simmons, the Celtics might enter the Warriors/Rockets air.
Irving bringing the ball up court, Tatum and Hayward split to each side, Horford comes up to set a pick, someone sets screen on Brown's man as he rolls to hoop....

God forbid we ever have to find out.I'm wondering if Brad could win 40 games with a first 7 of Theis, Ojeleye, Morris, Rozier, and Larkin, with Bird, Yabu and Nader coming off the bench.
He once won 25 with a front 7 of Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Jared Sullinger, Avery Bradley, Gerald Wallace, Kelly Olynyk, and Kris Humphries.I'm wondering if Brad could win 40 games with a first 7 of Theis, Ojeleye, Morris, Rozier, and Larkin, with Bird, Yabu and Nader coming off the bench.
Orlando won 25 games this year. I wouldn't heap too much praise on Brad for the 2013/2014 seasonHe once won 25 with a front 7 of Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Jared Sullinger, Avery Bradley, Gerald Wallace, Kelly Olynyk, and Kris Humphries.
What was the tanking landscape then? Philly must have been at it already, but it wasn’t widespread.Orlando won 25 games this year. I wouldn't heap too much praise on Brad for the 2013/2014 season
The preseason highlights with Hayward, Irving, Brown, Tatum, and Horford on the floor are drool worthy.
Yep, I've often noted that — imho he did a much better job of slowing down KD than LeBron, or anyone else in last year's playoffs (or this year's playoffs, to date). Healthy Hayward is one of a small handful of guys in the league with the combo of size, strength, quickness and skill to bother KD (or LeBron).Hayward, iirc, was the primary defender on KD in the Utah/GSW series last year and was considered to have done a really good job.
Rick Barnes did a pretty good job of it.Nobody can really stop or slow down Durant
Stevens hints at Game 4 adjustment: "Right now, with the way they’re playing, we’re going to need some other guys to be ready to go come Monday."
I’m sure he means starting other people or something, but...
Hayward is a solid defender as are his numbers on that end. However you must note that he has the DPOY backing him up in the lane with Gobert.Hayward, iirc, was the primary defender on KD in the Utah/GSW series last year and was considered to have done a really good job. He should fit in seamlessly for the wings.
It's more fun to mentally masturbate about this than to listen to all the chicken little bullshit that is so prevalent tonightWell, it seems like it's needed around these parts right now, because this has popped up in 2 threads.
Wait, so you don't think the Celtics should just "pack it in", and, I suppose, concede the series now to get an early start on their summer golf schedules? It's more fun to mentally masturbate about this than to listen to all the chicken little bullshit that is so prevalent tonight
Calling this merely "a bad game" is an understatement.I mean, one bad game and the world has ended? This is unbelievable. GS was down 3-1 to OKC in 2016 and people were shoveling dirt on their grave. The Cavs were down 3-1 and it was over.
The Celtics are UP 2-1. With home court advantage.
Like the Cavs against Indiana in Game 6 with a chance to clinch and they got blown out by approximately 56,094,212 points?Calling this merely "a bad game" is an understatement.
Did the Cavs fans say the same after Game 1?This really was one bad game......and a predictable one at that. We'll probably lose again tomorrow and that's ok too. Holding serve at home is what we need to do to advance.Calling this merely "a bad game" is an understatement.
Or even 2008, when the Celtics were up 2-0 against, who was it...oh, Cleveland. They lost game three by 24, and then game four by 11. Things managed to turn out okay.Did the Cavs fans say the same after Game 1?This really was one bad game......and a predictable one at that. We'll probably lose again tomorrow and that's ok too. Don't you remember all those Celtics/Lakers blowouts in the 80's when one game result meant nothing the following game? This happens all the time.....it happened in the WC this past week too.
Your reaction is completely divorced from reality.Calling this merely "a bad game" is an understatement.
You're right. It was a really bad game.Calling this merely "a bad game" is an understatement.
True, but Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Gordon Hayward, and Kyrie Irving aren't walking through that door, so to speak. This team has less margin for error than that one did. The take care of business at home thing worked for thr Milwaukee series, but this isn't Milwaukee we're playing against now.Or even 2008, when the Celtics were up 2-0 against, who was it...oh, Cleveland. Shouldn’t we wait until we lose a home game before we freak out?True, but Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Gordon Hayward, and Kyrie Irving aren't walking through that door, so to speak. Exactly.Shouldn’t we wait until we lose a home game before we freak out?
The Cavs were playing for their season last night. Whereas the Celtics were playing with house money and also they are a young team who hasn't played well on the road in any form these playoffs.Exactly.
Cavs shot lights out, Celtics were discombobulated on offense and defense and obviously a bit tight. Some of the lineups that Stevens played last night had major communication issues on defense (particularly Morris and Baynes). Refs were a bit home call crazy in the first half. Everything basically went wrong.
I know that people would have felt better if the Cavs shot their average and our defense was a little tighter and we lost by four points, but that doesn't mean anything.
The Cavs have the best player on earth. Their winning comfortably at home in a must win game shouldn't be a major surprise, nor should it be cause for alarm.
LOL I said this in the general playoff game phrase but that phase is so incredibly dumb. The series will be OVER if a road team wins. You’re saying a 7 game series with the home team winning the first 6 games isn’t a series yet?it’s not a series until a team wins a road game. this thing will go 7 and anything short of that, including a celtics series win, is gravy.
