LinkYoung Rangers starting pitcher Martin Perez has signed a four-year contract with three option years, the club has announced. Terms of the deal aren't immediately known, but Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Perez will make $10 million during the four years and that there's a $2.5 million buyout if the first club option isn't picked up.
That's a stupid deal. He has sucked most of his career, had one good year and is getting old. Mark my words, he will suck for most of the 2 year deal.MakMan44 said:Phillies get Marlon Byrd on a 2 year deal.

He's also trending on Twitter. Take a screencap, Nick, probably the last time for that.absintheofmalaise said:
Nick Punto is now an Oakland A. He signed for one year with an option for 2015 based on the number of head first slides into first base.

David Freese to the Angels for Peter Bourjos

/edit..Cards are also sending Fernando Salas to the Angels and receiving 22 year old outfield prospect named Randal Grichuk, who was actually the pick right before Mike Trout (Anaheim had two consecutive picks in the draft).

We're really going to have to reassess our expectations around here.
Not necessarily. If the crazy team with the crazy offer is no longer at the crazy table (STL), Boras and Drew only have the sane teams to deal with.Papelbon's Poutine said:Holy shit. Drew/Boras just came in their pants.

It pays to cheat...Thanks, owners, for encouraging PED use

Brad Ziegler's response to the Peralta deal via twitter. I wonder what the BestFansInBaseball have to say about this.

General manager John Mozeliak said Monday that Peralta had admitted wrongdoing and served his penalty, and that the Cardinals weren’t about to appoint themselves “morale police,” seeming to mean principles rather than enthusiasm. Mozeliak said the club was confident this was an isolated circumstance.
“Character and makeup are something we weigh into our decision-making,” Mozeliak said. “In his case, he admitted what he did, he took responsibility for it. I feel like he has paid for his mistakes, and obviously if he were to make another one, then it would be a huge disappointment.”
