I bet St. Louis is an underrated hockey city. I bet it's a bit like the old joke about Rangers fans- there's only 20,000 of them in New York, but they go to all the games.
Apparently (hellooooooo wikipedia) they were the last of the 6 expansion teams to be selected, and they narrowly beat out Baltimore, at the insistence of Bill Wirtz who owned the shitty arena in St. Louis and wanted to sell it. Another interesting note that I learned was that Lester Patrick was the first Blues coach, but quit in November with a 4-13 team, handing the team off to his young assistant.
Can you imagine being a blues fan though? You get a new NHL team in your city and proceed to 3 straight championships...where you go 0-12 games. Then you only make 2 conference championships in the next 45 years? Ugh.
I'm worried the lack of hate in this post may cost us this streak. Does anyone have any Blues hate to strengthen this thread?
