I'm not interested in defending the correctness of these so much as hearing other people brainstorm their ideas.
- Football. Get rid of the helmets. It would result in fewer head-on-head collisions and less of a concussion problem. It will mitigate but not get rid of the concussion problem. It may also favor a different athletic skill-set and cause tremendous short term change in the game.
- Baseball. Stepping out of the batter's box costs a strike. Pitch clock for pitchers. Bats made out of hickory (less breakage). Pitching change mid-inning is treated like a balk. I'd like to get to a 2 and half hour game.
- Tennis. One serve only. Rallying is more fun (subjective) and better exercise. The balance of power will shift towards good returners, particularly for amateurs and pro women (basically anyone without a nasty kick serve). Also, more clay courts.
- Soccer. A nearly perfect game, but is Futsal even better?
- Hockey. Another nearly perfect game. Goalie equipment needs to be still smaller. The NHL season needs to be 50 games.
- Golf. Play with the Cayman (reduced distance) ball and a ten club limit. This will speed up the game, promote walking, and make golf cheaper.
- Badminton/Squash/Racquetball. Squash and racquetball need to be abolished and be replaced by badminton. It's not a better game than the other two, but courts are much cheaper and all indoor racquet sports enthusiasts would benefit from the economies of scale that a less-fractured community would create.
