Surprised that this guy hasn't gotten his own thread started yet. He's 19 and playing his first year of full season ball at Greenville. Devers, Moncada and Chavis all probably have higher pedigrees but so far this year he's been right at the top of what is turning out to be a stacked Greenville team He was signed out of Panama in 2012. He's currently ranked as the sox #12 prospect by soxprospects with a description that profiles him as a potential major league regular as a plus defensive shortstop without much contribution from his bat. Hopefully that description was based just on his first two professional seasons in the DSL and GCL were he put lines of 248/356/290 and 269/286/408 respectively; not bad, but not great. Hopefully this year represents a real improvement since he's putting up a 295/354/510 line in just over 150 PA. The concerns are that he's showing a pretty pronounced L/R split (192/246/365 v. 351/411/588) and that the increase in power might have also led to an increase in strikeouts, up to over 30% of his PA so far. With that said though he's second in the Sally league in OPS while 2 years younger than the average hitter. If the improvement with the bat is real and the defensive prowess continues we're looking at a definite top 10, maybe top 5 sox prospect by the end of the season.
