The Red Sox enter this series against Oakland with a major-league best 9-2 record for July and having swept the A's before the all-star break.

Today also marks 20 years and one month since the book Billy Beane wrote about how much of a genius he is was published

We are playing good. They are not. Losers of their last 7. It’s always hard to project a sweep. But they really kinda should.

No official announcement on who'll be "starting" but I'm guessing Pivetta will get the bulk again with another TBD for tomorrow's game?

I'll try to game thread the replay if they win.
I discovered to my dismay that the Friday games have no Sox in Two, so the apparently really fun game one win in Chicago was lost to me, b/c I fell asleep soon after it started. I will try to stay awake in bed for the first few innings of tonight's game, but like you, I will be counting on the replay to fill in the gaps.

As of last week he had not begun throwing. Early August? Mid-month?
Looks like Houk started throwing last week.
Houck had a successful follow-up appointment with a doctor Thursday and has been cleared to resume throwing starting Tuesday (July 11), manager Alex Cora said. Houck had facial surgery to install two small metal plates (officially an open reduction and internal fixation of a right orbito-zygomatico-maxillary complex (OZMC) fracture) on June 27.

Game 95
Kutter went hunting Cubs and he shot’em
down for 6 innings. Runners? We got’em
on base a lot and our hitters brought’em
in, then the Yankees lost and we caught’em.
Craving some more big wins, we have sought’em
out here in Oakland. Mantras? I’ve thought’em.
Here’s one: “If you want to play in Autumn,
you have to beat the teams on the bottom.”
Who pitches tonight? Ort? Please God: Not him.
I think we’d all throw up if we spot him.

Has Faria been DFA'd yet?
Faria was DFA'd back in April after being on the active roster without making an appearance. He cleared waivers, signed with Worcester, and still managed to treat us to those two innings last night at Wrigley. It could be deja vu all over again.

So I will be following the game on Gameday while I watch the MFY's/Angels. Blacked out by MLB. I get the Angels games on our cable package. FFS though, why would MLB black out the A's games? They are a semi-pro team at this point.

I do not know, nor do I care.
Marrying off a daughter, apparently.
Anyway, it's too hot for me to go upstairs b/c the air's too polluted to turn on the attic fan. So I'll be watching with you guys. These are end-of-the-world omens, folks.
Geaux, Sox, anyway!
