The thought was he was easing into retirement with Shero on board. Leafs must have given him some type of Godfather offer.

OFFICIAL: #NYR have agreed to terms with restricted free agent forward Derek Stepan on a multi-year contract.
I saw something about that last weekend from some blog or something.JayMags71 said:So, there seem to be some rumors flying around that the Jets are shopping Dustin Byfuglien to the Bruins. Are there any sources you guys find credible?

I'd be all for a year of the Byfuglien experience. If the cost is something around Khokhlachev, Subban, and one of the bevy of d-prospects or a pick, all the better.
He's probably about right on the cost. Koko is about a 50/50 prop to be a top 6 forward. Odds are much lower he'll be a greater than 40 points a year guy, which makes him a bit of a lottery ticket. Subban is probably a better bet to be a #1 goalie, but far from a sure thing. Byfuglien will be in demand even as a 1 year rental to teams that are missing that one piece on D. Plus in the NHL the negotiating window is valuable. They get the chance to extend him prior to FA and if they can't they can pickup a mid round pick after the season for his pre-FA negotiating rights. The value of Koko and Subban to the Bruins isn't that great as they are both blocked and the B's have other prospects basically equal to them right now. Byfuglien can be the difference between making the playoffs or not.with the caveat that you know waaaaaaay more about the NHL than I do, I got to say that Koko, Subban, and a pick/prospect seems insane for one year of Byfuglien. I'd be furious at Sweeney if he gave up essentially the top two prospect chips in the system plus more shit for a year of a guy who is a bit of a wild card and frankly not that productive. I love the guy, but not at that price.

But that doesn't seem to really affect his play much at all (maybe as he gets older?)
If Sandoval is the Panda, I think we'd have a Grizzly on our hands with Byfuglien - he certainly comes with an edge to his game.
I'd jump at getting him for Koko, Subban, and a pick/prospect in a heartbeat.
If it should happen that we're not in a playoff position at the deadline, he'd garner a good haul in return.
I'd want Zidlicky on a one year deal. Erhoff is a left shot and Franson may be younger but he doesn't have great speed and he'll get a 3 year deal from someone.RedOctober3829 said:Of the three players on the market still linked to the Bruins who would fit the team better: Franson, Erhoff, or Zidlicky?
