didn't Kyrie waive his no-trade clause to go to Boston...that makes it 3.5I could ask what teams have signed 3 max FA (from other teams) in 4 years--is it a lot? Is it just a few?
put that in your pipe AD and smoke it!

no, Kyrie didn't have a no trade, there are basically none in the NBA right now. He did waive a $5.8M trade kicker to get it done, but he was probably going to do that anywheredidn't Kyrie waive his no-trade clause to go to Boston...that makes it 3.5

Kemba will be base year compensation. He'll only count as 16.35M as incoming salaryAs far as I can tell that wouldn't work under the cap. New Orleans is going to struggle to get over 30M in cap space (and even if they did I can't imagine they intend to pay Al more than 30m a year) so add Yabu and you're at about 33.2M outgoing, so the max they can take back is 45.25M. Given Kemba's max and Williams' salary the Celtics would need to add another 2.5-3M to the trade.
edit- probably need to add even more because based on rumors Al is looking at the 26-29M range for year 1.
Oh man, I forgot exactly how little he made this past year. Yeah that works under the cap then, question will be if the other teams are interested.Kemba will be base year compensation. He'll only count as 16.35M as incoming salary

nevermind, I was right in the first place, BYC is for outgoing, BYC players count at the full new salary for matching purposes for the team receiving them:Oh man, I forgot exactly how little he made this past year. You're right, I calculated it backwards.nevermind, I was right in the first place, BYC is for outgoing, BYC players count at the full new salary for matching purposes for the team receiving them:

How could you possibly forget the worst basketball game ever?Just saw a tweet reminding me that UConn beat Brad Stevens to win the title in 2011.
He’d better not be since he will still need a few guys just to fill out the roster.Signing Walker is fantastic. Looking forward to the season. NBA offseason continues to entertain. I don’t think Danny is done.
Worse than Teen Wolf? How could you possibly forget the worst basketball game ever?
Agree. I don’t know how much cap space is still available but they definitely still need a big man. The is and TL are not going to cut it as the only options at the five. He’d better not be since he will still need a few guys just to fill out the roster.
Im guessing you never saw One on One (starring Robby Benson)Worse than Teen Wolf?
I saw One on One with a very underrated Annette O'TooleIm guessing you never saw One on One (starring Robby Benson)
Of course the Beavers won. Michael J Fox was the original King of the Fourth. They won in the end.

Kemba's counting stats are far less relevant than the fact that he took a team with middling to poor talent to a decent offense last year. The Hornets were just behind Boston in ORtg iirc, with far inferior offensive players.Last three seasons, Kemba vs. Kyrie:
Kemba: 34.9 min, 18.1 fga, 43.4% fg, 37.7% 3pt, 85.1% ft, 51.3% efg, 23.0 pts, 4.0 reb, 5.5 ast, 1.3 stl, 0.4 blk, 2.3 to, 113 ORtg, 112 DRtg
Kyrie: 33.5 min, 18.8 fga, 48.3% fg, 40.3% 3pt, 89.1% ft, 55.2% efg, 24.5 pts, 4.0 reb, 6.0 ast, 1.3 stl, 0.4 blk, 2.5 to, 117 ORtg, 109 DRtg
Kyrie gets the slight edge offensively, but it's actually pretty close. Kemba gets the slight edge defensively, but it's pretty close.
I think it's a slight step down in talent, but Kemba's actual production is very very similar to Kyrie's. The question is whether Kemba's character and locker room presence will be a net benefit compared with Kyrie's. If it's better, he may be able to help the other guys improve; Kyrie didn't seem to be able to do that, given the Celtics' dysfunction (not blaming it all on Kyrie but clearly he was part of the problem).
Not sure what has a ton of gravity means. Maybe a typo?I also think that Kemba's style on offense is a better fit for Stevens and the other players on the roster. He's better off-ball, has a ton of gravity, and stretches the defense more from 3.
I mean that he attracts a lot of attention beyond the 3 point line because he can launch in tight spaces. Not sure what has a ton of gravity means. Maybe a typo?
Kemba also seems to be more durable than Kyrie. Kemba has played in 81, 79, 80 and 82 games over the past four seasons. Kyrie has averaged 63 games per season over that time period. Of course past injury history is not necessarily an indicator of future performance however if Kemba stays healthy and on the court for more games he may be able to influence more wins than Kyrie did in Boston.
It has to do with a ton of gold and a ton of feathersNot sure what has a ton of gravity means. Maybe a typo?
Gravity means pulling defenders towards you.Not sure what has a ton of gravity means. Maybe a typo?
The interesting thing is that he doesn't shoot the deep 3. For him it is all about the launching in tight spaces (and control his momentum).I mean that he attracts a lot of attention beyond the 3 point line because he can launch in tight spaces.
LET'S GOFree agent Kemba Walker has agreed to sign a four-year, $141M maximum contract to join the Boston Celtics, Excel Sports agent Jeff Schwartz tells ESPN.
Per source, the Celtics will be meeting with Kemba Walker soon with the intention of finalizing the 4-year deal.
So does this mean the sign-and-trade is off? Or is “finalize deal” just shorthand for “finalize terms Charlotte will give him before trading him to Boston”?
I assume it means finalize terms and agree to the S&T, none of this stuff can actually be processed until July 6 anywaySo does this mean the sign-and-trade is off? Or is “finalize deal” just shorthand for “finalize terms Charlotte will give him before trading him to Boston”?
Right. I know it’s been said before but NBA free agency with the various deadlines, moratoriums, and whatnot is really dumb (as is having the draft before free agency so the rookies have to be announced as being drafted by teams they’ll never speak to).I assume it means finalize terms and agree to the S&T, none of this stuff can actually be processed until July 6 anyway
It's hard not to be excited about him, watching him speakKemba on SportsCenter now, says going from Charlotte to Boston is like going from a boy to a man.
Wants to be able to compete at the highest level and get to an opportunity to make a run in the playoffs.
When you think of the Celtics, you think of Championships and winning.
Hearing this stuff it makes you realize how little gravitas MJ has as an owner and executive. No one wants to play for the GOAT. So weird.Kemba on SportsCenter now, says going from Charlotte to Boston is like going from a boy to a man.

If you Google Image search Kemba, it's really difficult finding pictures of him not smiling. That will be a welcome change. Let's hope it's as infectious as his predecessor's attitude turned out to be.It's hard not to be excited about him, watching him speak
