Would be nice to have a scandal that doesn't have "gate" attached at the end of it. All those in favor?Yeah the real challenge is the sneak and peek warrant under the Patriot act. Seems like the cops may have significantly overstated their reason for suspicion of human trafficking. If the warrant gets tossed Kraft and the rest are going to walk.
Ballghazi works for either.I was always a fan of "Ballghazi" for the Colts AFCCG brouhaha. Definitely love The Patriot Act as a name for this pseudo-scandal.
Isn't he fighting the charge just to try to make sure the video doesn't come out?I mean, sure, maybe he walks away from this without the misdemeanor charge sticking but the fact remains that he paid for a hand job in a strip mall spa. Personally I don't really care all that much, but lots of other people do and beating the charge because the video gets suppressed or the arrest is deemed invalid isn't going to change that. The only way this makes sense to me is that he believes that avoiding the criminal charge is key to avoiding some kind of disproportionate punishment from the league. Fighting it this way just keeps it in the news longer, and if he beats it the story just becomes how rich guys who can afford good lawyers can get away with anything. I am already cringing at the thought of a press conference or a statement from Kraft claiming vindication if the charges are dropped.
Both, but not for the reasons you and I might be. He’s not going to jail regardless and he’s a billionaire business owner, so social and league standing are his motivations here. A guilty verdict and/or a public handy video do quite a bit of damage to both of those.Isn't he fighting the charge just to try to make sure the video doesn't come out?
Then if it lasts more than four hours he would need to retain DRS.What if he’s got a massive dong though?
I don’t think he’s that kinda bone doctor. Then if it lasts more than four hours he would need to retain DRS.
I get no respect around hereI don’t think he’s that kinda bone doctor.
I do fix the most important bone. Ill leave the balls and pee to youAre you a fellow urologist?
It’s nice to have a specialty. Made those fellowships worth it.I do fix the most important bone. Ill leave the balls and pee to you
What upsets you, the handy? the Bentley? the Bentley WAITING? the location of the massage parlor?but it turns my stomach to think of our owner having his Bentley wait outside a strip mall before a championship game so he can get a handjob
Yup.What upsets you, the handy? the Bentley? the Bentley WAITING? the location of the massage parlor?
Dude went to Oscar parties one day after he was charged. Shame went out the window when Myra died. Now were just partying. When I watched a quick recap of the Celtics game, there was Kraft talking to Wyc on the court before the game.
Didn't there used to be a thing called "shame"? I'm pretty sure there was.
What does being on the court before a game have to do with shame? What level of itinerary contrition is acceptable? When I watched a quick recap of the Celtics game, there was Kraft talking to Wyc on the court before the game.
Didn't there used to be a thing called "shame"? I'm pretty sure there was.
So don't think about it?All of which is not to say that I don't find what Kraft did to be kind of repulsive. I mean, I love our team, but it turns my stomach to think of our owner having his Bentley wait outside a strip mall before a championship game so he can get a handjob.
That point is very much in debate. So don't think about it?
This is an old, single guy finding his sexual gratification...not sure what way he does that without repulsing us in one way or another. He's not hurting anyone, let him do his thing.
What's ambiguous? What does being on the court before a game have to do with shame? What level of itinerary contrition is acceptable?
Edited as Myt1 was right, but I'm genuinely curious what the post meant.
The whole thing? Is there a chart I can reference on what’s acceptable, keeping in mind that he’s plead not guilty and hasn’t been convicted of anything? What's ambiguous?
No, but you can presume:The whole thing? Is there a chart I can reference on what’s acceptable, keeping in mind that he’s plead not guilty and hasn’t been convicted of anything?
The problem is, neither of those factors are tangible for consideration by any jury. They are not allowed to read between the lines like those of us in the court of public opinion are.No, but you can presume:
1) Suppression motions are not file wrt videotapes that don’t exist.
2) Hand jobs are not free in commercial establishments.
What more do you need?
Because if he had a sense of shame it would be mortifying to be in a public space in front of thousands of people who know what he did.I’m still really just wondering why this means he shouldn’t attend a basketball game.
Robert Kraft is 77. I haven't met too many 77 year old men who feel any kind of shame at virtually anything. When I watched a quick recap of the Celtics game, there was Kraft talking to Wyc on the court before the game.
Didn't there used to be a thing called "shame"? I'm pretty sure there was.
The Speedy is usually never a mistake. A "natural speedy" -e.g., without a specific demand for a speedy trial made by motion- is 90 days. Kraft was served on 2/26. So the period expires on 5/27.And to counter that, RK (RK's attorneys) want(s) a speedy trial.

Are we still doing phrasing? The Speedy is usually never a mistake. A "natural speedy" -e.g., without a specific demand for a speedy trial made by motion- is 90 days. Kraft was served on 2/26. So the period expires on 5/27.
FWIW, the hearing on the motion to suppress is set on 4/26. I have read the defense memo on the motion, and it's good, if needlessly long-winded. No state memo has been filed yet.
It's possible that if the motion to suppress is resolved (say, a week for the ruling and another for a status conference) and the state still chooses to continue, the court will note the upcoming speedy and schedule trial sometime in May.
On 5/28, the defense can file a notice of speedy trial expiration. The court then has to schedule a hearing within 5 days. (Mon, 6/3) If the defense is ready for trial and has not moved for a continuance, the court has 10 days to try the case. (Thurs, 6/13 If the case is not tried, the defense can move for an automatic dismissal of all charges.

Caveats: there are a boatload. For example, the rule is satisfied if the large jury panel is sworn and voir dire begins on the 10th day. No petit jury (the actual jury that hears the case) needs to be sworn or selected.
Speedies work best on groups of low-profile cases. But here, it seems if Kraft tries this, it could be in late May or early June.
There's a very good chance it will be televised. (Unless there's been some specific reporting to the contrary that I missed.)
Billionaires aren't like the rest of us.Because if he had a sense of shame it would be mortifying to be in a public space in front of thousands of people who know what he did.
Seriously? I mean, I have no interest in prostitutes but clearly many people do. Oldest profession and all that. Bob Kraft is one such person. Why on earth should he hide out because he was videotaped committing a misdemeanor? I get that not all misdemeanors are created equally and there’s a moral element with prostitution. Still, the suggestion that he essentially withdraw from the public seems ludicrous to me.Because if he had a sense of shame it would be mortifying to be in a public space in front of thousands of people who know what he did.
If it happened to you on Tuesday, would you cheerily march into your kid's soccer game on Saturday?Seriously? I mean, I have no interest in prostitutes but clearly many people do. I really don’t know how I would react. What Kraft has been charged with is altogether foreign to me.If it happened to you on Tuesday, would you cheerily march into your kid's soccer game on Saturday?
Thank you.Because if he had a sense of shame it would be mortifying to be in a public space in front of thousands of people who know what he did.
And receive a huge ovation.Because if he had a sense of shame it would be mortifying to be in a public space in front of thousands of people who know what he did.
Meh, of course I and others get it. It’s not complicated.Thank you.
That this was not immediately understood is kind of mind blowing. Even if you don't agree, you don't get it at all? Wow.
Yeah, “meh” here too. It’s not like he came out and addressed the audience or really did anything. He was talking to one of his peers before a game. BFD. Why does he need to feel as ashamed as you would?Meh, of course I and others get it. It’s not complicated.
Horrors, other people might just look at this differently.
Trump announced today he’s giving a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Tiger Woods. Might as well give one to Bob Kraft, too.I really don’t know how I would react. What Kraft has been charged with is altogether foreign to me.
But Kraft isn’t me and it’s been well more than 4 days.
And his life’s finish line is a lot closer than mine barring something unforeseen for either of us. Given the ticking clock, I certainly wouldn’t advise him to hide out if he was not so inclined.
Certainly what he’s done is not something to be proud of but public perception changes fast. Look at Tiger. Sure there are large differences but he went from the shame of being exposed as a serial philanderer who seemingly treated his wife like shit to someone whose golf redemption was breathlessly celebrated by one and nearly all without nary a mention of his off the course shame. I know it’s been years and not days or weeks, but the fact that Tiger has been totally forgiven by most remains the case. Similarly, remember when Marv Albert was a laughingstock? He’s back and no one references his weird incidents.
In Kraft’s shoes, I think I would be hoping for quick forgiveness and not shying away. I’d be acting as if I was as back and thereby hopefully making it so.
And a rousing oral approval. My man loves getting a hand.
And receive a huge ovation.
When you can find people that'll do that, it's touching. My man loves getting a hand.
