Another insightful post as the one before where you put words in people's mouths, Teddy. Maybe the crickets in Citeh thread will agree with you more. Not sure who you're trying to argue with here.

Numerous reports have Lucas Leiva on the shelf for a month with a thigh strain. This is kind of a shame as, while not flashy, the team's defensive record has been very good with him in the lineup. Any word on Lelanna's injury status?

I’m in Europe for the semester, so of course I’m trying to get to Anfield (from Germany) to see a game. What I’ve seen from the ticket sites is that everything is either sold out or super expensive. I was wondering what you guys would suggest? Should I try via RAWK or some other site to buy a ticket at face value?  Or would I be better off just going to a London or an away game? I would have to see a game on the weekend since I can’t miss my classes during the week.

Sturridge will make his first start; Sterling is out; Balotelli and Lallana are available. Let's do this.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Ibe, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Markovic, Coutinho, Sturridge.
Substitutes: Ward, Johnson, Lovren, Lambert, Lallana, Allen, Balotelli.

I'm working from home today due to the MBTA fiasco. Why is there a full slate of games over the midweek?

Just finished watching the game. I can't think of many better ways to spend 90 minutes.

Huge 3 points, too.

Exactly why all the "Will Rodgers be sacked?" talk was silly.

Take from someone who watched Welbeck, Rafael, Anderson, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Chicharito, and Fabio all play important minutes in the Champions League for his club...some of those, unfortunately, will not work out.

Was impressed with Can though.

Emre Can continues his remarkable form and continues to win the hearts of the Liverpool fans. Despite not being a centre-back by trade, he's excelling in Brendan Rodgers' three-man defence.
He was a driving force against both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, surging from deep and chipping the ball into dangerous areas for his forwards to feed off.
A national call-up beckons for the German, surely?

I don´t know much about him since he left the Bundesliga, because i didn´t see him more than 2-3 times this season. Can you say something about Emre Can? Does he have a chance for the national team? Which position is his strongest? At which position will he end up?

I´ve just read a german report that he plays the right part in Liverpools defense, but also already played in the middle and some see him as the long-time replacement for Gerrard as a defensive midfielder, as well as a possible captain due to his role as a leader on the field. Is all that true?

Jordan Henderson is the 24-YO captain-in-waiting, but his deal expires in 2016 and he may not be an automatic selection in a side capable of winning the EPL.  Can has been extremely impressive since he reached full fitness after an injury early in the season.  He's been playing at right center back in the 3-4-3 lately, but often moves up to join the attack when Liverpool have possession and has also moved into the central midfield late in games after substitutions.  While he certainly has the size and positioning intelligence to be an outstanding center back, his technical skills are wasted back there.  There's no reason he can't be a box-to-box midfielder with both power and technique.  My primary concern about him now is he's reaching the level for a German player where Bayern always seem to swoop in and take them away.  With the new TV contracts Liverpool may find themselves right around Bayern in financial might, though, so who knows--I'd love to see him stay for a long time.

There's a crazy rumor out there that Liverpool will make a £25M bid for Jack Wilshire in the summer.  While I don't think either side would agree to that fee, I'd like to see them bid £25,000,001 just as an FU to Arsene.  In fact, if I were running Liverpool, I'd still be sending Arsene bids for players every week that were ridiculously undervalued with an extra £ tacked on at the end.  Maybe even for players he'd sold a while back.

"Arsene, just want to gauge your interest...would you be willing to part with Nasri for £6,000,001?  --DLew"

In related news, this may be why no one trusts me to run their billion-dollar business.

There is another rumor that I read that Rodgers was in Rome to scout Miralem Pjanic.  Not sure if he'd move but he is an outstanding midfielder.

As an Arsenal fan, I wouldn't necessarily mind Wilshere being sold, especially to a team I consider by far the easiest to root for of the other top English teams.  I can't even think of how he should be valued though.

- He's 23, so at least 7-8 years of his prime left
- He qualifies as home-grown, so essentially a free roster spot for any English club
- He's English, so a local PR boost for whatever club has him
- He's experienced, having come up huge at young ages in big CL games
- He's capable of moments of brilliance
- He does not excel defensively by any stretch; at best he's mediocre, though I would grade him more harshly.  He seems to think getting "stuck in" is what being a strong defender entails
- He's not yet mature enough to avoid the dumb, but easily avoided, media situations he finds himself in (e.g. smoking in public)
- He has a history of frequent injuries

Ozil went to Arsenal for £42,5M at age 24
Cesc went to Chelsea for £30M at age 27
Juan Mata went to United for £37.1M at age 25
Sanchez went to Arsenal for  £30-35M at age 25

I would probably guess Wilshere's trade value to an English club is somewhere near £35M; he's not nearly as proven as those players but he's younger and English.

If I were Arsene, and could find a buyer for that amount, I would probably pull the trigger and buy someone with more defensive fortitude to balance out the numerous creative & scoring threats the team already has.

I have to believe that answering "no" to the question "Does he bite other football players on the pitch?" drives his value to Liverpool up a tick, as well.

For those searching, it's Fox Soccer Plus or Fox Desportes today. The Desportes feed is like watching tv on a UHF channel with a coat hanger for the antenna. The saving grace is no Eric Wynalda and Alexis Lalas.

Souaré gets a knee up around Lallana's neck and that isn't a booking yet Henderson breathing on a tumbling Gayle is?

Also looked to be a clear penalty on my shitty stream uncalled

Mentioning that Liverpool gave away a three-goal lead at Selhurst Park last year without mentioning they were desperate for goal difference is criminally stupid.

My other favorite is when they say Liverpool blew the title with that comeback, even though City still would have been champions if Liverpool won the game 3-0.
