Where did van gaal confirm? I missed his presser yesterday

"Confirm" was maybe too strong.  He said that they'd still like to keep him but its up to the player and he doesn't know whether they can match Madrid's allure and that they've drawn up a list of replacements in case he leaves.  That might not be confirming his departure, but to me you don't say that openly unless you think the player leaving is pretty likely.

There have been a lot of rumors about Hugo Lloris as a De Gea replacement, which almost makes too much sense to actually happen -- Spurs even bought Michel Vorm last year as insurance in case Lloris leaves.  The only hangup would be that Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator and will ask for a lot more than the 12m Spurs paid for him a few years ago, and Utd may not want to reinvest so much of the De Gea cash in the GK position.

So United's 1-1 draw today means there is nothing to play for on the last day of the season.  I'd expect some youngsters to get a run out and hope LVG can fit a few of his under 21's that just won their league in the match day squad.

Falcao waved goodbye today as he was subbed off.  Nobody would ever question his effort but I wonder if those successive injuries just took too much out of him.

De Gea may have had his final game at Old Trafford as well.  I don't think anyone would begrudge him for leaving.  Van Gaal said as much after the game today, but they have offered him a competitive contract and the Guardian reported that trying to get him to stay is the club's number 1 summer priority.

In the same article they also posted that Paul Pogba, and not Gareth Bale, is the club's number one priority this off season.  Obviously it would make the Matic deal pale in comparison but he would be the ideal signing (though I think you can say that for any club in the world).

Depay is coming but again I'm not sure what LVG has in story for the off season.  I could see a striker coming in as well as a midfielder, center back, and right back (though Valencia has stepped up his game recently and was a beast today).

Who could be going?  Besides De Gea...lots.  It wouldn't surprise me to see Van Persie, Di Maria, Smalling, Jones, and maybe Valencia go depending on who they sign.  That doesn't even include Nani and Chicharito who will surely find new homes.

De Gea would be my player of the year. I think he was worth a dozen or more points, I have no idea how you'll replace him. He may have "saved " United 2 or 3 years of rebuild by clawing you through that early season and getting top 4. Presumably last summers big signings will be sold. I just can't see Pogba going back there but this is football strange things always happen

I'm not watching 8 minutes of that, particularly when it was easier just to listen to his 45 seconds talking to the fans on the pitch after last game.

AND NEXT YEAR VEE SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN.

BYE!!!!

I have to admit I like Van Gaal like 15% more than 0 when I imagine him as Oglethorpe from Aqua Teen

This might be the most backhandiest of backhanded compliments, ever. I salute you, sir.

By the way, lest anyone think I'm picking on Man U, let me note that I think Brendan Rodgers looks like the kind of guy who masturbates in front of a mirror.

A month or so after the death of his wife, Rio Ferdinand has announced he's retiring. One of the best defenders ever to play for United and England.
