An MCL what? Sprain I'm guessing? Can fit all my medical knowledge in the reservoir tip of a Korean condom but still I like to get educated.DaveRoberts'Shoes said:Sounds like an MCL. Meh.

Matt Slater was even running light routes during positional drills. I'm shocked. They feared the worst Sunday night.
As Yaz alludes to, I don't think he'll play this week. I would venture to guess that with 3 games in 15 days they will take it slow with him. I am also pleased that this isn't a long-term injury.pokey_reese said:How does "should play again this season" translate to "practicing this week?" I'm so confused by this, but also really pleased. I was really afraid that we were all about to learn a serious lesson about the value that Slater brings, to the tune of +/- 5 to 10 yards of field position on every kickoff or punt.
He is a tough mutha. Anyone else remember the preseason when he did this and only missed like two weeks?Corsi said:Slater is practicing today.

I agree, but don't they almost always have three games in fifteen days?RedOctober3829 said:As Yaz alludes to, I don't think he'll play this week. I would venture to guess that with 3 games in 15 days they will take it slow with him. I am also pleased that this isn't a long-term injury.
SN, can you spoiler stuff like that? Thanks.Super Nomario said:He is a tough mutha. Anyone else remember the preseason when he did this and only missed like ]
Thanks, and I, like a fool, had copied it in my post and just deleted it.Super Nomario said:Sorry, fixed
Chuck has written some about this for ITP:DourDoerr said:Very good news. Given the photo above, his knee ligaments seem to have pretty good flexibility, if that's possible.
One thing that's always puzzled me. Given how Slater consistently gets down first on coverage - along with his reputation as the best in the league - why hasn't one telecast focussed on how he does it? You know, pull some footage from 5 or so plays and really shown why he's able - and others are unable - to be so consistent. I've seen every game in his career and have heard the lip service, but there's never any detail. It's really a shame and another black mark for NFL analysts and producers.
Usually it's 3 games in 21 days unless it's a Monday-Sunday turnaround.snowmanny said:I agree, but don't they almost always have three games in fifteen days?

What has always puzzled me is how Slater is so good at Special Teams (on the punt and field goal coverage teams) with his awareness, angles, and speed, but he has been completely unable to translate those skills to another position. Being a gunner is not so unlike being a WR (getting a clean release off the line and running by someone), and yet he has been terrible every time they've tried to play him there. Being a S doesn't seem so unlike covering kickoffs or punts (run towards someone with a ball, take a good angle, and tackle them well), and yet the Slater-to-S experiment didn't last long.

2 * 7 + 1 = 15.
Can we go back to talking about Slater's awesome coverage and horrible hands?
