If only we could hit against our pitching. This pitching staff is just not good. Seems impossible for this team to win when they aren’t scoring 6+ runs
That was what was so stiking to me watching the post season last year. This pitching staff is just not good. Seems impossible for this team to win when they aren’t scoring 6+ runs
I mean, look at what they have on the field at the moment. The SS, 2B, LF and CF are bench-level guys, the 1B and C are young players trying to figure it out. The RF is starting in the wrong position defensively (at least for Fenway). That was what was so stiking to me watching the post season last year.
After watching ~80 Red Sox games, it was a revelation to see how much better all those other teams were. Like--if you're only watching the Sox--it's hard to appreciate how much better a chunk of the league is.
That too.I mean, look at what they have on the field at the moment. The SS, 2B, LF and CF are bench-level guys, the 1B and C are young players trying to figure it out. The RF is starting in the wrong position defensively (at least for Fenway).
Every team has injuries and every team has dry spells, but when you wish/hope/pray that role players and rookies will come through more than can be expected, you got issues.
I am mostly concerned with the pitching staff- starters who can’t keep the ball in the park and relievers who don’t get strikeouts. The best FIP out of the Sox pen is 3.30, which doesn’t seem good enough.I mean, look at what they have on the field at the moment. Nate Eovaldi is missed.I am mostly concerned with the pitching staff- starters who can’t keep the ball in the park and relievers who don’t get strikeouts. The best FIP out of the Sox pen is 3.30, which doesn’t seem good enough.
Old baseball proverb: Momentum is the next day's starting pitcher. Kluber and Houck.Given that the last two games (9-1 and so far 9-1) are the worst of the season (in terms of the gap in scoring) I am inclined to go WAY out on a limb and join Gray Eagle and others in saying that there is a possible, remote connection between these games and the Jansen fiasco. Not sure. Just saying.
Like it. Here's another old baseball proverb: Hitters have slumps, and sometimes collectively, which can be exacerbated by "baseball hangover" (which is baseball for being depressed).Old baseball proverb: Momentum is the next day's starting pitcher. Kluber and Houck.
Are they going to stick with him all year below .200?That was a AAAA at-bat right there for Casas
They sort of have to, don't they? I mean, they could put Turner at 1B, Masa at DH and move Verdugo back to LF ... but what does that accomplish? Are they going to stick with him all year below .200?
Seriously. That was embarrassing. That was a AAAA at-bat right there for Casas
That's what we're holding out hope forHow many ABs into Pedroia's career begor he figured it out?
(Not that they're similar players. But similar poor starts for a high regarded prospect.)
They're hopefully going to need him tomorrow night? I dunnoWhy not have Joely pitch?
We're the ones not using an actual pitcher.Man, the Mariners are kind of being assholes here. Get it over with.
Maybe we can turn their season around.Hey. Oakland is coming to town July 7th.
So you're saying that the humiliation can get even worse?Hey. Oakland is coming to town July 7th.
