its the Devils, theyll probably just trade the picks to you for friggin Craig Adams or something anywayGreg29fan said:The Penguins had the right to pursue draft compensation and were like nah that's cool. Because who wants free draft picks? Especially from division teams?
I think so, although the Devils insisted that Shero has a "clean slate" to do what he wants. If Shero fires the entire player assessment and personnel staff, especially the scouts, then we'll know he's in charge. If he doesn't, then we know Lou is still in charge in all but name only. Shero seems like the guy being set up to take the fall for Lou's incompetence over the past 5-10 years. Shero will suffer Lou's bad contracts and weak, old roster and break a few eggs that have to be broken...perhaps even trading over-priced Devils fan favorites like Travis Zajac and Patrik Elias. He'll be a hero if he can get Ryan Clough to retire. Then, once the Devils are firmly at the bottom of the league, which is where they are surely headed, an entire new management team will be put in place, Lou will retire, and the Devils will seriously be starting over. But these next 2-3 years under Shero (and the shadow of Lou) will be circling the drain stuff. Anybody's guess as to who is going to want to coach this team over the next few years. Probably someone desperate to get a shot at big league managing.FL4WL3SS said:Why would Shero take that job when there are better jobs available out there? I'm assuming he didn't have much interest from other teams.
He's essentially going to be Lou Lam's whipping boy. Lou is going to be hovering over his shoulder for every move he makes.

Actually he was with the Flames prior to the Pens.

yeah I forgot that. Anyways I guess he fits going from UW to Calgary.
Hakstol has obviously coached a lot of talented guys but I think there was some frustration in Grand Forks that they'd never been able to win the NCAA title.
He had every resource possible to win in Grand Forks and he couldn't do it. They have the best facilities and had elite players and still couldn't break through.Greg29fan said:

Toronto is paying Horton almost that much to be on LTIR so that they could get rid of Clarkson and use the cap space. They have a ton of money and this is one of the few ways they can leverage it. Makes sense to me.Reardons Beard said:Wow. That is a lot of cash for a coach.
No pressure.
Horton's contract wasn't insured. Lolz.Toe Nash said:Toronto is paying Horton almost that much to be on LTIR so that they could get rid of Clarkson and use the cap space. They have a ton of money and this is one of the few ways they can leverage it. Makes sense to me.
