Lol was thinking BB just knows how to consistently beat the Steelers even with a terrible team. All three of our wins are against hated rivals.
Bill still has it.
Do you really think this? Another win puts them at 4 wins. There is one other team with 3 wins and 5 other teams with 4 wins -- all 6 of those shitty teams would have to win a game to make certain that the Pats would get #2 if they win another game.yeah, this win means that if they win another game 2-3 teams could hypothetically pass them by losing out (though unclear, since losing out would actualy hurt those team's SOS and us winning would help our SOS amusingly). But if they lose out they are #2. Basically the Patriots could always win one game without much concern.
Seriously. This team was 2-10 and the guys were all playing hard. A win did jack shit for this team’s culture. They’ll compete hard as long as BB is here. Many of us wanted them to lose out the year before they drafted Mac. They didn't, they got #15, and they drafted Mac.
Thoughts are with you bud.I woke up this morning to 5 missed calls from my mom and 1 from my sister, knowing all too well what that might mean, I made the call back to my mom. She picked up the phone, and as my worst fears had been realized, she was frantic and hysterical as she told me that she was on the way to the hospital and my dad had a heart attack. I'm now sitting on a cross country flight from Seattle to Boston to be with my mom and dad in ICU.
I watch the Patriots because of my dad, it was our thing to do. We rushed home from my mom's birthday party, in the blizzard, to sit next to each other and watch the Raiders tuck rule game. We called each other in tears after the shot at 19-0 was crushed. We traveled the east coast together to watch the Patriots in a handful of away stadiums. But over the last several years we've fallen off. We don't talk as much, we've grown apart. As I sit here on this plane, the only thing I can think about is how happy he is, sitting in ICU, watching the team win and knowing I'm coming to see him.
Yeah, I wanted them to lose today, but I needed this win. I can't wait to share it with him tomorrow.
Very sorry to hear about your dad. I know all too well with those kind of calls mean and how tough they can be for families. Glad we got the win as well and I hope your dad makes a speedy recovery.I woke up this morning to 5 missed calls from my mom and 1 from my sister, knowing all too well what that might mean, I made the call back to my mom. Or maybe Justin Fields would have developed with the Pats instead of Chicago, who's never been able to develop a QB.I mean, I don't think they could have out-tanked the Jaguars that year. But getting a pick in the top 7 and ending up with a Penei Sewell or Patrick Surtain would have been sweet.
I meant coming into this game, the Patriots had a game plus SOS lead on ARI and 2 games on everyone else. So they could afford a win. They just got it. Now if they win they could still be at 2, but could end up as far down as I think 5... maybe 6, depends on other results and complicated tiebreakers.Do you really think this? Yes, with a win tonight they could be facing the 4-6 pick with a win over the Jets. With a loss tonight, they would have all but sewn up #2.I meant coming into this game, the Patriots had a game plus SOS lead on ARI and 2 games on everyone else. So they could afford a win. What record is that of which you speak?I’m glad we held on to thatv10’point lead record
You guys need better drugs.I'm so disgusted, what a terrible win, I won't be able to sleep a wink tonight now.
Thanks a lot you assholes.
Pats have won about 58 in a row or something after being up by the amount they were up.. it was a stat they showed at some point in the 4th quarter. What record is that of which you speak?
Thoughts are with you bud.

I don't share a lot, but I share this to say that life is short, enjoy the fun moments.I'm very sorry to hear about your dad.
For sure. It's looking a dog pile of 4-win teams. 3 is good. Let's just stay here.Yes, with a win tonight they could be facing the 4-6 pick with a win over the Jets. With a loss tonight, they would have all but sewn up #2.
This is where I'm at. Very simpatico with cornwalls@6 tonight.Eat it Yinzers. Pats still suck and will get a top 5 pick. But beating them is always fun.
Was on the fence but now glad they won.I woke up this morning to 5 missed calls from my mom and 1 from my sister, knowing all too well what that might mean, I made the call back to my mom. No. Lose to them. Pats already beat the Jets. 1-1 is fine. I want the best pick possible.Absokutely not.
Yes, and even with another win should be Top 3.Not really, still the inside track to the 2 pick
Thinking of you. Glad you can be there soon, hoping for the best. And like the others, I feel better about this win now.I don't share a lot, but I share this to say that life is short, enjoy the fun moments.
Appreciate the support.
I'd say should be top 5.Yes, and even with another win should be Top 3.
10-3 vs Tomlin (including playoffs)Lol was thinking BB just knows how to consistently beat the Steelers even with a terrible team.
No, it does not "beg the question." (Volin, however, begs the question of whether Zappe would have been any better over the course of the season.)But Zappe’s performance Thursday night does beg the question: What took Bill Belichick so long to start Zappe over Mac Jones?
I….. I don’t know anything anymore. I don’t understand football, or life.Do we let Bernie start the next game thread? He kinda messed this up.
I know head to head works as a tiebreaker for playoff standings but does it also work when looking at the bottom of the standings? That is, with the same W-L records does the fact that Was beat NE help the Patriots in the race to a better draft slot?I'd say should be top 5.
So here are the other contenders...
Arizona has 3 wins, remaining games... BYE, SF, CHI, PHI, SEA so likely to end at 3 or 4 wins, they have a tough SOS so if they tie with us we win tiebreaker.
So if we win and ARI loses out they pass us, if we both win 1 we probably win TB.
Now the 4 wins teams:
WAS- Bye, Rams, Jets, SF, DAL they are projected almost identical with SOS, so if they lose out they might pass us.
CHI- DET, CLE, ARI, ATL, GB- they are highly likely to beat us on SOS, but... they have winnable games. Them losing out would be VERY bad for us winning one as they and ARI likely both pass us.
NYJ- HOU, MIA, WAS, CLE, NE... some winnable ones in there. If they lose out they are likely (but not positive) to pass us on SOS, but would push WAS out.
NYG- GB, NO, PHI, LAR, PHI rough schedule... SOS projected very close, but with a slight edge to NYG in passing us.
TEN- MIA, HOU, SEA, HOU, JAX- not any great ones there, BUT projected with a tougher SOS than us.
So A win could drop us as low as 6, but more likely 3-5.

One is a perennial pro-bowl selection, and the other is...not.To show a disciplined player versus one without the discipline?

By my rough count, Don Shula was something like 12-0 over Norm Van Brocklin.Does any HoF coach own another like BB does Tomlin?

A blocked punt is the same as any other punt. It was kicked forward and downed by the Patriots at the 25 yard line. It was a seven yard punt.I am sorry to hear about FL4WL3SS and 54thMA and their family health problems and wish them and their parents the best.
I have a question about the game. In the 4th quarter, the Steelers blocked a Patriots punt. It was 4th and 2 from about the 18 yard line. The blocked punt went forward and was recovered by a Patriot on the 25 yard line. Why was that not a first down for the Patriots? It was not treated as an incomplete forward pass. If that were the case, the Steelers would have had the ball at the 18, but it was placed at the 25. Perhaps this was covered earlier in the game thread. Apologies if that is the case. Is there a rule about blocked punts that came into play? If so, it is new to me. What is the rule in that situation?
Thanks very much, hoping for the best for @FL4WL3SS and his family .I am sorry to hear about FL4WL3SS and 54thMA and their family health problems and wish them and their parents the best.

This might be the greatest complication sports lore and mysticism I can recall.SoSH protocol demands that if you started the previous game thread and our team won, you get to start the next game thread.
This was codified as “game thread mojo” back in ‘04.
Since the Pats did all they could to improve their draft position last week, they “won.”
So stick with me, your hot game thread hand. I’ll take you to the promised land.
My thought was why is the tip by the Steelers after it left Baringers foot not treated like a punt that deflects off a Steeler down field which, after recovery by the Pats, would be considered Pats ball?A blocked punt is the same as any other punt. It was kicked forward and downed by the Patriots at the 25 yard line. It was a seven yard punt.
A punt that is blocked and recovered behind the line of scrimmage is a live ball and can be advanced by either team — either the kicking team to try to make the line to gain or the receiving team. A punt that crosses the line of scrimmage is just a punt.
Edit — it looks like it was actually 11 yards, from the 15 to the 26.
He angered the sports gods and we ended up winning as a result. This might be the greatest complication sports lore and mysticism I can recall.
